I learned from many boxing champions and sparring is my thing. Boxing Champion Renè Arredondo taught me excellent tactics in 2002 in Wilmington Ca. on how to deal with tall fighters.

Bad habits for both of them. The guy in the blue is ducking down and to the right every time he jabs and the guy in the black is winging his punches 80 percent of the time.

They need better coaching. No offense, this is pretty bad for 6 months, and especially for one year. Red headgear isn’t even using any technique in his punches, and both are clinching more often than they jab. I hope they haven’t been paying for their lessons so far

Don't worry cocky tall guys always get humbled, everyday. They will all find out, most of the time when they win it's because they got weight on the opponent. But what's bradley martin gonna do when someone weighs the same, and is stronger and faster.

As an actual boxer, you do not lose your sharpness after 3 weeks of not sparring? What kind of nonsense is that. Many boxers later in their career don’t even spar, they work on trapping and game plans more specifically to reduce damage, not to say that sparring partners you bring in during camps are going to throw 100% on you, but the point being that you’ve established how to throw sharp clean shots whatever the shot may be, and from whatever angle/position. The work only comes in to get more comfortable landing at certain distances and more so to be able to get yourself to close distance comfortable; shoot and get out of range of their shots on time, etc etc. this game is levels, most beginners don’t understand that as it takes time and experience, once you get there you’ll understand exactly what I mean. Applaud putting the work in, but yes definitely numerous things to work on here

Never boxed before but seems like black gloves is dealing with punches by just launching himself back. Maybe if he kept his guard up and learned how to tank punches up close he could find a way to make hits. As of now it seems all red gloves has to do is throw a couple of 1/4 power jabs and he goes flying back to avoid getting hit. Maybe the logic is sorta that if you can do tons of defense you can gas your opponent out but if your opponent knows any feint will send you flying back, he'll just use efficient jabs to keep you moving far more than him, ironically gassing you out possibly.

Hey I am the guy with the black gloves interesting you bring this up. First thing is first it’s better to move your head than block or take a punch. Don’t forget this is a very light sparing match not a fight. I am specifically practicing guard and head movement. This is not normally how I box and I could be more offensive. But we are not even hitting full force so it’s better to work on specific things than actually try to fight. However I can agree that there are many things I can work on hence why I am sparing. Thing ring is also quite small which is a contributing factor I like to move around allot.

I'm a tall guy and I'm thinking about getting into boxing, can someone point out all the mistakes the taller guy made?
@ppshchik2 ай бұрын
He could've used more feints and uppercuts since shorter boxers are reliant on counters.
@Ufhhh122 ай бұрын
, he cant counter going backwards which is essential for a tall boxer, not enough footwork especially in defense.
@jelm43152 ай бұрын
He was on the defensive a lot of the time (understandable, he doesn't look too experienced and was against pretty high power opponents). Focussed a lot on the jab, very good idea for keeping your opponent at a distance when you have longer limbs but he didn't follow up with any big right hand shots so was pretty predictable and didn't really "scare" his partner off. His defence was constant but a bit loose, you can see his hands being smacked out of the way, should keep it tighter to the head and watch out for incoming body shots, moving the tight defence up and down. Ultimately he doesn't use his height to his advantage very much, you want to keep your sparring partner at a distance and practise good footwork for when your likely shorter opponent moves in for inside shots.
@TheSpartanboy102 ай бұрын
Not incorporating a style the best allows him to utilize his limb advantage and One thing most people undermine especially a taller fighter is clinching, which he did well. Make sure you do it when the shorter guy gets to close to avoid taking excessive damage.
@steverogers7601Ай бұрын
He’s not using his jab enough. He’s not that good at maintaining his range and keeping his opponent at a distance. He needs more sparring to practice his advances and tactics for shorter boxers.

This is the type of sparring that brings exponential improvement over short periods. Sparring has been getting a bad rap lately because people use it to brawl needlessly, and there is a time for hard sparring (before fights) but this type of sparring should be done at least 2x a week and there's nothing better you can do to improve your skills. Good job.
