Here is a tip to improve details that seems counterintuitive. Use a larger Brush with a very fine tip. Get the paint a consistency to flow out of the bristles. The bigger brush will hold more paint allowing you to barely touch the tip to apply paint. The tiny “detail” brushes don’t work as well. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for sharing! I gotta try that out

Great build! In the future could you talk a bit more on why you used the lighting circuitry? Ie was it just to get the right voltage?
@spencerquaid25 күн бұрын
Of course! This was actually my first attempt a lighting/circuitry, so I used a system I knew was beginner friendly (Woodland Scenics Just Plug). Ultimately, I think making my own circuit would be better for this project, and I'm looking to try my own in a project soon!

I love the music paired with this, and I love this diorama. Im a big sucker for brick focused dioramas, with shrines, brick houses, temples, cobblestone roads, etc. so this was a lot of fun to see :)

Where did you get the miniature TIE's?
@spencerquaid2 ай бұрын
They're from the tabletop game "Star Wars Armada" :)
@millenniumf11382 ай бұрын
This is awesome! I love your presentation and skill; subscribed! Also, I thought you might like to know in case you ever do larger scale TIE Fighters, but Tamiya's Haze Gray is a dead-on match for the original TIE Fighter color. In addition, I think the reason your black seemed to soak into the base color is that brushing the black over a lighter gray likely pulled up some of the underlying gray and mixed it with the black, which caused it to lighten up.

What did you use to seal the bottom once you applied the stand?

I used some quick caulking materials to seal the resin pour. To attach the base, I used some wood glue.

They look good! I personally find myself being more successful at small straight lines with a toothpick or paperclip, my hands are way too shaky to freehand with the brush

Quick question - What benefit did the Zenithol highlight give you if you then covered it all with the Zandri Dust? From what I can see in the video, after painting the base coat, I can't differentiate between the highlighted and non-highlighted parts.
@spencerquaid3 ай бұрын
Honestly? I zenitholed from reflex. Looking back on it, zenithols probably don’t impact base colors very much. Sometimes I use contrasts on specific parts of projects and other paints for other projects, but next time I may just try one prime. Always something new to learn or try! Thanks for the feedback :)

Nice diorama! Keep ‘em coming! Quick painting tip… work back to front… in other words… the deepest bits first. Paint the inside of the mouth, then tongue, then skin, then clothes, and finally accessories. This allows you to be a bit sloppier knowing that each layer will allow you to tidy up the last. Lookin’ forward to the next story.
