While I do LOVE this scene, it had to sort of break the rules regarding Data's abilities. He's an android that can perform several complex activities simultaneously. He CAN'T be distracted. This tactic shouldnt have worked, using the song. Data would simply sing along and also continue to focus on evading Picards shuttle. Still, im more than willing to look the other way when im enjoying an amazing Star Trek movie. I really wish they had made more films with the TNG cast, especially since Patrick ended up developing old man voice and doesnt sound at all like the strong, dignified Captain Picard anymore. They could still make a film based on Riker and the Titan crew, now THAT would be EPIC

On one hand, it's not that the humor is necessarily bad, but just like some of the MCU movies recently, it takes away from any real tension and is sometimes over the top. I don't believe Dr. Soong would make Data into a floatation device for others--he didn't make Data to be in service of humans and it's cartoony. And Data at this point, would know women are talking about women-related things like their "boobs sagging"--Season 2 Data, no, but his character would recognize that by now. And the singing...it's not that it's not fun, but it's just too silly, even if Brent Spiner can sing. However, the more subtle humor, like Geordie showing Data his own memory chips, and him responding, "There they are," is much better.

Okay.... Should I point out that Picard was going to obscond with just shy of 16,000lbs of explosives???? Like, even if one assumes that they are just low-yield explosives, thats STILL gonna make one heck of a bang....

0:26 LCARS interface uses a two button command to bring up an (by 23rd century standards) obscure musical play replete with karaoke style font and I have to rifle through my cars touchscreen clumsily to turn on the AC blower in summer. Modern cars makers TAKE NOTE OF THIS SCENE! EDIT: to include video timestamp.
