Did you just soak the leather in warm water for a minute to make it supple enough to form around your FOB with manual shaping and stretching? Then add the button indentation’s after on a similarly shaped hard surface?

Upper surface leather layer. The bottom layer is attached with a layer of mex to prevent stretching, the middle layer is a layer of padding to create shape.
