The worst part is not knowing if you got everything up. You keep thinking you smell a whiff of poo here or there and then the paranoia sets in that there may be an incognito turd splash somewhere around.

Yea we had a very similar situation with our ChowChow mix. He NEVER did business in the house. It was like, "a King does not soil where he sleeps". So to our huge surprise, we came home and found this same thing but he had jumped up on all 3 beds and you could follow the trail where he sprinted and jumped around the house. Hardest part of that cleanup was getting it out of the grout in the tile floors we had at the time... 🤮

Id be careful we had gotten a dog off of a friend of a relative we brought him home and a few days later he had the runs ,then he was fine this happend off and on. When hed have the runs he would be sleeping a lot.We just thought it was change in his food or enviroment possibly both so he had a vets apt.in a few weeks and thought wed just have the prob fixed then.He would have the runs off and on.One day he had it so bad we thought he was dying we called the vet told them what had been going on.They got us in that same day.Come to find out it was whipworm I had never heard of it before.I also found out that the people who gave us our dog had other dogs that had it and because of neglect all their pets were taken from them.Whipworm can contaminate the ground your dog potties on for up to a yr.maybe longer and is very contagious.Still I had no regrets getting him he was the best dog ever.Oh and the poo thats on your floor looks just like how my dog had the runs when he was sick.I hope your dog sees a vet and feels better soon.

Crate training helps with things like this quite a bit. Not only them getting into things they shouldn't, but I've learned that dogs are less likely to urinate/defecate in an enclosed space (as long as you're not lying about only being gone an hour)

Locking a dog that has diarrhea into a crate only leads to one thing - and it's a dog being forced into laying in their own shit, for hours while your not home. Would you rather clean the floor, or a shit coved dog? This is the dumbest advice, ever. If this is too much for people to handle - then don't get a dog. "Dog shits in house".. wow. What's next? I know right!!?? - my poor German Shepherd being FORCED to having to spend some time on a $1000 mattress, leather couches, dog beds, listening to music, enjoying the central air and ceiling fans - while playing with box full of her toys, or the cat , with bowls filled with clean water and a choice of food one room away. The horrible life of a dog.
