Crazy to think that you can film all of this today with just a few drones instead of 4 helicopters

Thankfully, the re was like only ONE thing in the whole movie that was realistic. We in the railroad industry don't want the general public actually knowing how things work. The movie was indeed based (at its start) on a real incident and it didn't even portray that correctly.

I wondered how they filmed that scene... interesting to see they DIDN'T actually tip the train like it shows in the Movie; because you can see the car carrying the pipes passing without problems, while in the movie those pipes broke free and fell off when the car tipped.

The helicopters constantly playing chicken with the train was beyond dumb in that movie.

There's a legend in WV about a runaway steam logging train. When the crew did all they could to stop the train to no avail, they shoved the engine into reverse and then jumped off of it for their lives. As they were walking down the mountain to see the inevitable wreck, their engine came chugging back up the mountain to pass them.

From what I know, 4001 got severely damaged in a derailment in 2017, but was rebuilt in Altoona Juniata shops and put back into service.

One of the most fake railway films ever made they do not tilt the rails would slide off the ballast ! That and they do not explode . Like the ones that rolled. The wreck in the fugitive was much more realistic ! Better yet the train in 1963. With Bert Lancaster all real stuff wrecked .
