This reminds me of the list I use when I fly out a long way. 1. Fly with the wind travelling towards your face this way you will have the wid to help you flyback. 2. For areas with no high structures turn off obstacle avoidance to save battery. 3. on return to home lower the drone to avoid high winds which will drain your battery. 4. Never fly low long range over water. the static of the water can bring your drone down 6. Avoid hand launching when doing long range tests. 7. Be sure you have a good number of satellites Before you take off, this will help prevent fly aways. 8.Remember to set your return to home height before you take off, so the drone can avoid high structures if you lose connection. If anyone can think of anything I have missed please comment . P.s I think that maybe you could have made it all the way back but you had a good back up plan,. 😊
