What did you use to fill the gap? Where did you get it? Did you have to make it or can you buy it?
@michaelbenno2 ай бұрын
Those were moulded hard plastic pieces. I would not recommend them because they did not fit very well. I suggest you use black foam rubber to fill in the gap, this is what was used on the 1992-1995 GTS models. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYSzm6eCgMaLl5Y

I liked your video showing use of the tester, but do you have anything on the spray pattern for the Bosch 0280 155884? It's a 4 hole injector, but when I blast out mine on the bench (touching with alligator clips / no tester) all four of my injectors spray out two thin streams rather than a nicely atomized cloud as I think you say in in your video.

I don't have specific info, but I would expect all bosch 4-hole injectors to have a similar pattern. Check out this article on spray patterns. performancefuelsystems.com/TA04spraystyles.html If you are not getting the proper spray pattern, there are some things to check: 1. Voltage - make sure you are using the correct voltage that is supplied to your injectors in your vehicle. It may not be a standard 12v, 2. Fuel Pressure - make sure you are using the correct fuel pressure for your vehicle See if you can find the injector's specifications tables provided by the manufacture it will the specs for the various voltages and pressure. 3. Gummed-up injectors - It could be your injectors have gummed up if they were used and have old fuel in them. You can have them cleaned by using the process in this video. 4. best tests - maybe your home test isn't producing the correct conditions to get the injectors to run correctly. Bring them to a shop that has a tester/cleaner like the one you see here. Many independent shops have them. They can clean and verify your injectors to be properly functional and deliver the specified fuel. This will also help identify if you ended up with cheap knockoffs.

@@michaelbenno Thanks for the response. I have the exact injectors, by model number, that you have in your video. That's why I asked, hoping you might have more info or other pics. I've seen that graphic by Bosch in the link you gave, but it's not clear which pattern our injectors would have. Number 4, maybe? I am expecting a cloudy, well atomized fog, but am getting two tight streams in a V shape, like pic #4 in that graphic. My injectors are new, less than 200 miles on them, but it's possible they're dirty, I guess. I'm going to buy a new one and test that, see what happens, and also take your advice to find a nearby shop to test/clean them professionally.

Sounds like you might have a bad bearing on a tensioner pulley?

Hi thanks for the comment and hypothesis. Actually, the problem has been identified and resolved. The issue was a result of improper tolerances of the aftermarket adapter for the harmonic balancer. The adapter installed by the previous owner was for a S4/GT crankshaft. However, a different adapter was needed for the GTS crank. The resulting tolerance difference allowed for a small gap between the crank gear and the thrust bearings. This allowed the belt to walk and the thrust bearings to rattle. The vendor offered to replace the adapter with the correct version. This solved the issue. What’re those bearings there for?
@michaelbenno Жыл бұрын
There is an additional throttle plate (aka Resonance Plate) separating the left and right sides of the intake that pivots on those bearings. The Resonance Plate is computer controlled. It opens between 3600-5400rpm and then closes above 5400rpb. This helps maintain peak torque and HP throughout the RPM range

@@michaelbenno that’s some awesome stuff. I mean I’d hate to work on it, but neat nonetheless.

Never seen a puller like that. Cheers from Uganda

Can you adjust so the bite point is lower? My clutch does not engage until the last inch or so of peddle. Thank you!

Thanks Patrick, I have not had much time since getting it running to drive it. We've had some terrible winter weather and those tires dont do well below 50-degrees

@@michaelbenno I'm in the same ""U-Boat" Michael ( a little Risky Business/928 humor there - Haha). My current 928 tire setup is HP summer tires, so the winter months have been my project months too. Recently completed on my '90 have been TB/WP w/Audi tensioner, and Intake refresh w/powder-coated intake and cam covers. I expect that the time we can't drive just makes us appreciate the time we CAN that much more.

Thanks for the comments. This is a 1988 S4 5spd. The wheels are 1988 Gembella Corse SL 2-piece forged wheels with Ti hardware. I love them too! I'll post more videos when I get the car fixed. Something ignition based broke on the shakedown drive.
