@JoeAnthonyCourtneyАй бұрын
@@Park93 thanks so much dude I really appreciate that! This is actually a modded Fender Player 1 Jazzmaster, I swapped out the neck for a fender baritone Strat neck so it’s got a 27 inch scale length, I did get a luthier to do this for me as these necks don’t come with string tree holes / tuner holes etc Did it because finding baritones can be quite tricky there’s not a whole lot on the market really

Amazing work man, I hope you don’t mind me asking the tuning, and also how you got this tone. Sick work again dude🔥🔥
@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
Hey mate thanks so much! So the tuning is ADADGB it’s a modified baritone tuning which might take some work to get your guitar setup in I’m using a baritone guitar here, as for tone I’m using the neck pick-up running into neural dsp archetype gojira!
@SirNathanel2 ай бұрын
@@JoeAnthonyCourtney thank you, is that a fender baritone jazz master or is it another brand?
@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
@@SirNathanel it’s a fender, it originally was a normal jazzmaster but I replaced the neck with a subsonic 27.5 scale length fender Strat neck to turn it into a baritone, it’s not absolutely necessary if you want to play in this tuning but the extra scale length defo helps with intonating the low A!

@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
Thanks dude! I used Neural DSP Gojira with the super heavy amp and cab but with the neck pickup selected, I'm not 100% if they recorded the actual song on the record with the neck pick up but on their audio tree performance he's using the neck pickup on his Strat, thanks for watching mate!
@coda17862 ай бұрын
youre guitar tones are insane what do you use to get them?
@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
For this I used Archetype Gojira as the amp, then the new GGD Contenders for the Cab and then I use Slate Digital Mix Rack to beef it up a bit with console emulation, some EQ etc :)
@coda17862 ай бұрын
this is the best cover ive heard omg what those guitar tones are insane with the ambience, and the vocals are crazy! please post this to spotify or something
@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
Aw thanks so much for the kind words I really appreciate it! For the left ear, all the ambience and the little bits of lead guitar etc 0:32 I used Neural DSP Plini, for the right ear I used the Archetype Gojira Clean amp! I'm also heavily using the SoundBetter Butterfly Effect plugin which is essentially doing a lot of the work for ambience. I might post this on Spotify in the future along with some other covers!

Heya, i clicked on this by chance because i love the original and i'm glad i did so. I think you really managed to capture the feeling of reminiscence and hope that you describe through a more tender sound. Your voice sounds great and fits well with this style, as does the artwork. In my opinion, you may benefit from thinking about the consistency of your vowels (i.e. "pain" 1:25 and 1:41) and what you want to convey with your breath for an even more coherent sound - that's just my two cents though. Looking forward to more covers for sure! :)

Hiya! Thanks so much for the kind words and the advice, I'm very much not a professional when it comes to singing or recording vocals for that matter but I'm very much looking to get a lot better at it so I really appreciate your thoughts! Have an amazing day :)
@johncarlson26322 ай бұрын
The layering on the guitar is crazy. Really good job. The vocals and the guitar mix great with the ambiance running in the back. Your voice is very good and the tones are balanced well, I would recommend rasing the low end on the vocal track to bring out some of the warmer tones of your voice that you have coming out at 3:02 & 3:22. You're 3 for 3 with having the best Loath covers out. Keep it up man!
@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much mate you're so kind! and cheers for the advice I'm definitely less experienced with mixing vocals than I am with mixing full instrumental tracks etc so I've got a bit to learn with it, eventually I'm hoping to do a lot more original stuff making full songs with vocals and videoing the creative process and everything so I'll defo be learning new vocal recording techniques and stuff. Really nice to see you again mate!

@JoeAnthonyCourtney2 ай бұрын
Thanks man! To be honest I didn't learn it from tabs I may have looked at a couple when I first learned this song but a lot of it was from ear, the tuning is ADADGB so it's a bit of a change of setup for most guitars but if you're willing to do it the first tab you see on google is pretty decent!
