Imagine you're a first time player, somehow unlocked the trickster early on and focused on the main story. You're at the final dragon boss fight and somehow loose all your pawns. Wtf do you do then??

There's an exploit a lot of us used that let us dismiss 1/2 of a couple. We used it to drop Khalid and Dynaheir while keeping Jahiera and Minsc. Most people also multiclassed Imoen as a mage. So many people did this that the developers made it so you start BGII with Khalid and Dynaheir having died after your party was captured by Irenicus; and Imoen is multiclassed with mage by default.

I played BG2 back when it came out. And started playing in 2024 and it’s still my favourite PC game ❤

That is why BG3 had such big shoes to fill. BG2+Throne of Bhaal are the masterpieces! Luckily, BG3 didn't disappoint, which was very possible, because of the quality of previous games.

Too bad you used two completely incompatible mods, and put the worst of them, Random Treasure, written on a knee, at the bottom of the order. So REL didn't work at all, and you didn't get a single custom item from the Ancient collection in the entire game because Random Treasure doesn't account for them.
