I was stationed at RAF Chicksands from 92-94.....we would make "food runs" to Mildenhall for Popeyes chicken....(it was a distance) but our CO approved, moral purposes

Is it true that Mildenhall has really bad crosswinds?

Yup. Almost always a crosswind and often they are quite strong (15-20mph or more)

Crosswind control after touchdown. If you let the controls out as soon as you touchdown it’s possible to strike an engine on the ground.

That cockpit looks like one of my old aircraft. We painted the yokes like that and the window curtains aren't all ripped up like some units. We painted the instrument back panels like that too. Were you flying a contingency mission? Or it could have been a transfer as my unit went to the KC-46? Tail number?

Last time landing there was 1977. We had checkered board tails on our KC-135A’s back then, 1-year later SAC made us remove them. The best Fish and Chips...
