The sound of the 4000 brings back happy memories of the farm. My uncle had one and he put a Mil Mount trip front loader. I was always driving it clearing out cow sheds harrowing ploughing , bringing in hay or straw. The list is endless.

Scruffy bales like that is because there is not enough ram strokes to each able coming down a gear in big rows will sort it

Yeah I definitely don’t make 4600 in a season! Be nice if I only did one days baling though 😆. I’ve made 320 today but I have to Ted, row, bale and flat 8 onto a trailer for the stacker lol. Do those masseys balers still make the cut of tails still?

You mentioned been terrified by pylons. As a young kid going to primary school, we used to walk our very long psssageway to our neighbor's at the road for the school runs. In the early morning dew or frosty morning, I can hear the crackling noises at the isolators (on the high voltage line poles) and the morning electric draw was higher at that time in the morning added to the noise and it terrified me walking under them. It was unnatural and Halloween creepy. Yet the birds were not afraid, so I kept walking under them to get to school. I kept thinking why was the birds not afraid of the wires. When I was a teen I learnt the noise was the burning off with electricity of the morning dew (created paths from the wires over the isolators to ground). Then at evening walking back and it is quiet as it was dry.

When I was learning to square bale the boss got brand new baler to replace a 29yr old machine and it was that much of a mongrel to get sorted the crew from state's cane out to NZ to see what was up and discovered it was twisted between the chamber and knotters after 3 very painful day's. Shipping company never disclosed that the container it was in had been damaged and had swapped containers and changed the numbers to suit. 36hrs later another brand new baler arrived by plane from states and away we went. Big 6 string 4x4 8580 case-ih. Was some head's rolling after that as the year before the new tractor had been stripped by the wharf crew resulting in a brand new cab being sent for a 71 series magnum. The tractor that gave me the nickname 'magnum' as was 1 of the 1st in nz. Some times it's the joy of new toy's. Wishing col better luck with his baler as iur agco/massey crew are awesome here but the case-ih crew gotten slack I reckon

Nice to see you out on the round baler, I always find the idea of stop/start annoying with those - there are some that are continuous but I guess they are quite complicated. Keeping the little John Deere has proven to be a great idea, just like having a loader tractor when you have a couple of telehandlers - always useful to have a spare! Thanks Matt for a cracking video.

3000 bales in one day is more than I made all together in a week 👌😆🤦‍♂. Interesting that the Massey lapped the John Deere as well! Poor Col, hope they sort it… i had a spring on my JD snap, couldn’t find it till the next day. Was a simple fix but trying to find it🤦‍♂

Keep up the good work guys. Before u no it harvest will be starting. I just remembered that I see dave at the young farmer show in Oxford. He was on a tractor and trailer with loud music. Kaleb cooper was there also. A good day out it was with the family.

I keep looking at 4 string balers for years like this when times going to be short for little baling. I guess you make the big bales the same length as the arcusin packs.

Cracking video, those big balers are amazing, I remember the first time I ever saw one, baled a field we did a year earlier with little bales in around 1/10 the time we took. Then clearing the field took 1/10 the time too. LIttle bales have their place but give me big bales everytime! Of course different for you guys selling to horses etc.
