I have an arabian mare who is very large. I have fitted her to a 30-32 inch cinch because of her large size. However, western is great for her but does not work her shoulders very well so sometimes I like to place an english on her. My question is how do I get this to be more comfortable for her? Meaning: on the very first notch in the straps, the cinch attaches but ends up being so tight on her that it takes forever to take off. I cannot ride her like this. It is just too tight but there isnt enough strap to make another notch. Should I try a longer cinch?

you shouldn't need a draw gag if your horse is actually trained properly

most barrel racers knock barrels and keep running and kicking their horse but i love how Fallon knocked the barrel and then pulled up and just let BabyFlo cruise the rest of the way such good horsemanship on Fallons end!! she is the best barrel racer to ever live!

Splints are common in young horses usually not an issue they calcify from small as a raisin to big. It is believed the splint bone was years and years ago long time ago was another toe on the horse, so this interousseous part that attaches behind the cannon bone starts to fuse with the cannon bone around age 4 or 5.

I think this is the pride of the winner in this field barrel racing, and all contestants have an ambition to be first, by the way, I follow this in amazement and make sure of it until I see the winner.

I just bought the square bar. I put a typical leather strapped western style curb chain on it but it made the whole setup far too tight around his nose. What type of curb chain do you suggest, or is the ripe nose too short?

good job bob. I've been preacing the principle of bend every time I see somebody using a leaverage bit. WE all need to understand how that works world wide. I use a snaffle over my hackamore all the time for years until they are ready for the spade. And I am using the principle of bend every minute.

Are you all blind? Do you not see how badly these horses are ridden? I am not just talking about Fallon Taylor and Sarah Rose McDonald. These horses are whipped, spurred, star fished, you name it. Horses are not supposed to turn that tight. It damages their bodies. The whipping is so unnecessary. Why would you whip your horse? There is scientific proof that whipping, spurring and star fishing can cause long term damage. Whipping does not make your horse go faster, it actually either slows them down or has no effect on the horses speed. The whole "Horses have thick skin." thing is bull sh*t. Humans have skin that is about 0.08 mm thick and horses have skin that is 0.05 mm thick. They can feel a tiny fly land on them. Imagine how bad whipping and star fishing is. Imagine if you hit yourself with the whip. It would hurt, right? They have sensitive nervous systems that can feel things humans can't. Not to mention that these riders have HORRIBLE equitation and rely entirely on their horn and reins for balance. Because of this they end up ripping the horses face off. These horses are not excited to go in the ring, they are trained to. Trained to the point that whenever they see barrels all they know is that they need to run. Any good equestrian would be able to know that this style of riding is abuse. If you don't believe me, just look. Just f*cking look. Watch their hands, they move around all over the place, ripping the horses mouth apart. Some even put RUBBER BANDS on their feet to keep their feet in the stirrups. These horses have no muscle, no top line, NOTHING. This is EXACTLY why I don't support barrel racing.

My 25 year old Arabian/QH mare is in a D-ring snaffle bit. She’s super hot and loves to run. Every time I ask for a simple walk by putting a bit of pressure one rein at a time, she throws her head up and just pushes right through the aid. Same with turning- when I ask to turn she hesitates and refuses unless I really reach down and FORCE her to turn. My trainer suggested a full bit with a correctional port.. would you agree? Please help.

So severe metal. I hope to see bits boycotted. Horses do not have the way in anything on bits. Sounds a bit close to anthropormism. Horsres vs. Homsapiams, they have no choice- Bits equal " pain compliance." And having loud hands as horses will indicate a d communicate through their body, to make the bit more severe then what already is functioned to do. I'm sure if people made a bit for dogs rather than having body halters/ head halters, people would scream abuse. Dogs are more dangerous then a 1200ibs herbivores animals whom has no desire to draw blood or kill you. The danger of horses is their size, accidents, and ignorance on a person's part. They are not a pitbull. I hope more people educate themselves as I am to move away from devices such as bits. They are a cheat and lack of time and commitment to training horses.

Hey, you should check out Raleigh Link on KZbin 🐎 She makes excellent, well researched videos on horse abuse ❤️ Bits have been scientifically proven to be painful and unnecessary to horses, but you probably already know that some equestrians really struggle with accepting that they've been accidentally abusing their horses for years, it's a tough situation!

I purchased the VenTECH western cinch with elastic, and the liner started to tear after less than a year. I emailed them about it, but no response. I did receive a response on messenger after I notified them about the problem, the person responding said they tried to find a place where I could purchase another cinch since professionals choice has stopped making them, however no luck with that, and I don’t want to buy another one anyway. I was hoping they could sell me just the liner, since it’s removable and the rest of the cinch is fine. They said they couldn’t do that. This cinch was expensive and it should have lasted more than a year, since I wiped it down after every ride and kept it stored in a climate controlled tack room! Needless to say, they lost a customer and I’ll never buy any of their products again.
