@@brianlee1517 thank you. I am sorry for your loss. A counselor told me, you mourn much because you love much. I appreciated that sentiment.

My heart is with you. I lost my mom almost two years ago. She was on hospice at age 74, this time of year in my home. After she passed I wanted to keep everything of hers to feel close. As far as my own things I got rid of so much and my house was all I really cared about. It was all I could really control. It is definitely a part of grieving. Thank you for sharing with us. I heard about you from Shannon. God bless you are your heart heals.

@@Goldiloxandthe3bears I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in 2021 at 84 years old. I say your mom knew you longer than anyone else. Losing both parents gives a whole new feeling. I understand about wanting to keep everything of your mom’s. I get hyper focused on photos to preserve memories but physical memorabilia is comforting when we need it. I know the feelings changes and we just change with it. Thank you again for sharing.

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2012, my son in 2015 and my mom from 2018. I have always cared less about stuff but I find now that I am decluttering even more. My husband doesn't feel the same way, so I respect his decision with his things. I DO NOT want to leave a bunch of stuff for someone else to deal with. Our daughter is Down Syndrome so it would be up to my niece and nephews to have to declutter. I am hoping that there will be very little to declutter.

@@sburwell75 I am so very sorry for your many losses. That was a lot for any heart to take. As I type this, we are traveling home from my aunt’s funeral. This is the season of life me and my sweet cousins are in. I do not have any kids and I too do not want to leave it to my nieces and nephews to manage. Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate it.

Came here from a recommendation by Shannon Torrend. Would suggest Dana K White’s books and youtube videos and reading the book about Swedish Death Cleaning. Both were amazingly helpful resources for decluttering. Good luck with your journey.

@@karenhayes1461 thank you. I did keep one. I do have a journal I started years ago but stopped because I kept crying as I was writing. I am glad I have what I did write. I need to consider taking it up again. Thank you!

I came here from Shannon. I very much enjoy watching decluttering videos, especially from those in the same stage of life that I’m in. I love watching Shannon’s mom Cathy. I actually don’t have a problem decluttering but have to tread carefully because my husband is not interested in a more minimal life. 😳 My grandchildren live on the opposite side of the country and I pretend that I am moving there with one suitcase as I try to downsize. I doubt I will be moving anytime soon, anywhere, but it IS motivational.

@@laurac56 I love watching Shannon and her mom too! They are precious. The one suitcase thought is definitely interesting to pare down. I like asking the question of, “would I want to move it or is it not that important?” I love hearing other tips so thank you for sharing yours.

Thank you for sharing your decluttering journey! I am so sorry to hear you lost your father. I got teared up when you talked about your father and how he ended his phone calls. I really think sharing your journey will help so many people who are in the same situation. Good job on your video, Joyce!

Thank you! Dad was a sweetheart. I have so many of his voice mail messages saved so I can hear him when I am missing him. Daily life is not the same without him but we are all better for knowing him.

That’s funny. We have a small dog who loves to go for rides and there are a few key words that triggers him to run to the door. They are a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing and stay safe! - Tom “Outdoors and Country Living”
