There's an error in the video! Thanks to the folks that pointed it out. The principal stresses are two compressive and one tensile; sigma3 should indeed by -32 ksi or 32 ksi of compression.

I believe the stress at the bottom should be towards the cross- section and not away since the bottom of the cross-section is in compression.

This video was exactly what i needed, thank you. Also, you forgot to write ri^4 which bothers me, but all good.

shouldn't sigma3 be - 32

Thanks for posting one of the best video on combined loading. I may revisit the direction of arrow for shear stress (tau_xy=100MPa) at point B in COMBINED state of stress at 29:10.

Damn, I tried looking for the proof of why Ixy is 0 for a symmetrical cross section. Finally found it. Great video!

I have next to zero wood working skills and am looking to build a fence. I do have math skills. And this just saved me a lot of worrying if I'm choosing the right way to orient everything 😅

why is the Q calculation the same for T2 ? You changed t to 10mm. so why didn’t you change the width from 100mm to 10mm as well?

Prof. Susan Reynolds makes so much content that is visually pleasing and easy to understand. I honestly wish I had taken her Statics or Mech. of Mat. class.

It appears that my microphone had a technical issue starting around 6:30, so the 2nd half of the video doesn't have any audio. I do plan to re-record the video -- stay tuned!
