Why would anyone still use poly when water based finishes has some many upsides?

I had terrible results with Bona Traffic HD. Maybe our Bona contractor applied it too thin. But our old oil based poly never had any issues with dog claws - never had to add protective rugs or anything. After they refinished everything with Traffic HD, we have claw marks and indentations EVERYWHERE. After 5 months, our floors looks worse with Traffic HD than they did after 10 years of the oil based poly. Just thought I'd add a real-world anecdote.

really appreciate this video. We just returned from hiking to the crash site, and have been amazed at how little information is available in the travel guides. We even asked the cashier at the local market if anyone survived and HE didn't know. So happy to learn that all the crew made it out! We were so glad we had our muck boots on for the trek! We never did see the craters from the detonated bombs, but there is so much water everywhere right now. Many thanks!

Where did you purchase your Bona products in Canada? And where did you purchase the Norton PolyWhey (on their site I don't see a 2500 and a 3500)? I'm in Ottawa and having trouble sourcing them locally. Have you ever used Saman Waterbased Floor varnish?

My fitrst advice is ; Do not wear Icehockey skates inside the house. Do not let Your Female visitors wear Pumps with one part of the heel missing. Do not shift Your furniture fm position too much! I make a joke,still serious concerning advice. There is a cost issue concerning finish. The best is that Clients are well informed about the maintenance,do's and don'ts I am 30 years in the flooring. I still approach My work,like walking on eggs,meaning,absurd approach for a quality result. The Clients expectation,is something to care about. Or better; Make sure You explain the possible result. I warn Them for some choices. Meaning risky colour finishes wanted. I let Them see fm the beginning if I can remove old wear and tear. If They are present at the start. I use the best equipment,materials. Still some products are evolving,or changing. I allways stay in connection with suppliers,especially laquer producers. Why? Over the time,products change! Invisiblle laquers (no names mentioned) Have gone to a process. Seen floors turn green,turning yellow in no time,matt finish showing gloss scratches like there is no tomorrow. In My/Our situation,the suppliers changed their production,and stepping at correctiion floors(done again!!!) I love My work,I support all colleagues with the craftmanship approach! For all You trying to do Your floor by Yourself! Think twice! I could end up very,very expensive. Came for the wood finish comparison, stayed for the hiking vid! Fascinating. I've never been to Canada let alone BC. It looks really magical. That trail looks like it's for people who are far more outdoorsy than me. But I'm envious. I'd love to do something like that sometime. Good vid n test. Ur #1 choice the Traffic is the best n expensive.. I use duraseal n all the Bona products.. Many are hard to come by in july 2024... And prices have sky rocketed.. Very interesting n informative.. Ty.. From Sandman floor in Pgh Pa.

In case the flooring is pine or from a conifer species, water base isn’t the best option.

well done , great video , great testing , great product review ..... I'm perplexed though , I can't decide if the "toy car and winch" were for "science" or "humor" ..... I got both ..... lol .... seriously , really good job dude ....... I have to do a small floor repair , the stain came out okay , but I have no idea what clearcoat was used on the floor , I'm just going with the basic Varathane oil poly for floors , got it at HD ...... hope it matches up okay , we'll see ....... what a crap shoot trying to figure this stuff out
