Incidentally, the copyright holder of the Fortunes' hit performance of the "Caroline" song kindly agreed (after Radio Caroline's "MOA 50" event of Aug 2017 in Clacton) that their performance of that song could be used freely in association with Radio Caroline related events etc. They said they were truly thankful for Radio Caroline having adopted their song back then, itself not a major hit, as it had served not only as a station anthem/jingle but also as a recurring subliminal advert for themselves! Apparently, the copyrights for that record had most recently (as of Aug 2017) reverted from _EMI Harmonies_ back to the the band. Just shows, "it never hurts to ask" - once you've done the "leg" (or web & phone) work to _find_ the right person to ask!

It was so great, in my young teenage years, to hear him back on RNI, a couple of years or so after the original U.K. "pirate" stations were forcibly closed down.

This band was so far ahead of their time, people just weren't ready for them. This song should have been a no.1 hit. Years later, the Animals were at this level. They were just too sophisticated for the public in their time .

I was on holiday on the Isle of Man with my parents and siblings at Easter 1964 and we saw Radio Caroline North anchor off Ramsey. When we got back home to Liverpool the radio was tuned to Caroline North as it was the go to station. I’m glad that I lived through those momentous days as we would never see the likes again!. The 60’s were without doubt a special time to be alive!

Caroline North arrived at her new anchorage on the southern tip of the Bahama Bank, Ramsey Bay, on 6 July 1964, not March as you suggest.

I listened to their last broadcast in 1980 and it was very sad to hear its last moments as she went down. I have happy memories listening to Caroline when we lived in Liverpool. I was on holiday on the Isle of Man at Easter 1964 with my parents and siblings and we watched as Caroline North anchored off Ramsey. Seems a lifetime ago now!

I'm absolutely younger than this song, wasn't around then, having said that, this song makes all the absolute sh_t released today sound like complete, useless sh_t This is REAL music, not only for the 60's, but for today as well! And in the future! RIP Honey and Dennis! I play this often, whereas I don't even PLAY the so-called <modern> crap. This should be required listening in schools, along with other great music, as a simple matter of exposing students to REAL culture! So beautiful and amazing. I love the way their voices play off each other. Perfection!!
