It’s superb! “PS” is probably the most beautiful work of contemporary serious music I have heard in the last decade and perhaps even the most brilliant since Gorecki wrote his Symphony No. 3 (popularly known as “Symphony of Laments”). The listener who is willing to listen to that score (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqnNcn2KesmUpZIsi=_C8R3IZXeZV5yQ0A) repeatedly and without interruptions will feel amply rewarded and will surely attest that I am not exaggerating in the previous statement. What Alexander McKenzie (I asume the author of the essential piano notes) and Sune Martin (I further assume him as author of the string arrangements and various others) wrote is simply excellent. McKenzie's piano-dominant score recalls the minimalist compositional technique of the great Steve Reich and, at isolated moments, also evokes both the melancholy of Philip Glass's typical jewels and the keyboard virtuosity of Jürgen Fritz. At the same time, Martin's arrangements transport one at times to the style of maestro Harold Budd.
