33:43 YOu probably pressed R3 by mistake. Same shit happens to me when I press Q by mistake. What happens here is that you can target monsters that you have seen or have enough research points by pressing R3. Notice the right side of the minimap, there are icons of monsters that you have seen present and the Tzitsu one is being aimed at with a red crosshair. That means you are targeting him and when he gets close, the camera will lock onto him that's why your camera went in that direction. If you ever want to target a monster in front of you but you spam the lock on button too much, you are forced to cycle through all the monsters present beside the minimap to target the one right in front of you........ yeah this lock on system sucks.

26:37 You notice the red number beside his icon on the minimap? when the number is red with a minus in front, it means the monster is below your altitude. When they are above, the number is green with a plus. I have never seen him go there but, there is a place below you that requires a long fall to reach where he might be. 3:02 to figure out which items of the overworld are slinger ammos, look for a blue outline on the name and icon of the item like in 2:54 where you picked up redpit which is also slinger ammo and then just some seconds later you picked up the slinger ammo. Slinger ammo is always auto equipped on your slinger and if you have one already loaded in your slinger, then that gets removed(or thrown if you picked it up from the overworld). Regular items like herbs will have a green outline on their text and icon.

As for others, most of them are useless since they grant protection against various blights which you can negate using resistor jewels anyway. The only ones that are worth anything are vitality mantle which I have no idea how I got (though it's usefulness only stays till the high ranks) and the damn temporal mantle which you ain't getting until master rank. Since I a newbie to the game was able to beat this game without them for the most part, you should have no trouble (other than some crackhead bullshit LMAO).

I tried the gunlance as my second choice after the insect glaive but I noticed that the finisher involved shooting a shotgun on your enemies which does very little damage (Though my time of kill was around 5 minutes while yours was around 7 so it wasn't as big a deal as I thought back then LMAO). I also struggled to use the shield for blocking which is why i did not pick it up.
