This item aptly used for the first day of streaming represents of course showcases my performance and choreography of this intense, but profoundly beautiful item showcasing the relationship between a mother and her child even if the mother is Yashoda and the child is Krishna. It also showcases the fact that I was on my guru Saraswati’s stage about to receive her award, but dancing in front of my guru Saroja, showcasing, what she had passed on to me as her legacy and what I was in the process of passing onto my students as our legacy. All of this happening in the beautiful Chennai dance music festival setting.

It is always a pleasure to use one’s craft to discuss more than just roots heritage and art for the sake of art. In order to take your craft to a higher level, you must delve deeper and find meaning in the art of storytelling not just about your original roots from where the art was derived from, but to use it to tell the stories of others and other concepts in order to use your craft to give back. Art should be a bridge not a divider. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.
