It takes about 4 minutes to get to the 100 psi, where it will stop automatically. If it can't get to 100 psi, then you likely have a reed valve that's broke or it has come loose. Easy fix.

Don't you ever doubt a man wearing a crock working bare hands . Mechanics with gloves, goggles & Boots & a condom under their jeans to protect "little willy" from danger , get my compressor pumping my body with doubts, specially if they start pulling snapon screw drivers & pliers, & talk 5nm, 20nm "tork specs" on screws nuts . 😁 If he pops up wearing shorts/crocks & gets to it RAW & pulls out a railroad flattened nail on a stick for screw drivers & start splicing wires with his teeth, you're in good hands . specially if his hands are Greasy from last month & has dryed blood under his finger nails, then jackpot RIGHT DUDE for the job!

Nice to repair things to avoid the land-fill, or at least see if a simple repair like this. I drive a 1984 M-B diesel car I bought for $400. It had only one main problem which I fixed with my $89 HF wire-welder (first time welding). It served one son well for 10 years from college senior thru medical school and residency, and now me. Here because I'm fixing my larger HF dual-tank air compressor which stopped going above 40 psig..

That little square electronic deal you mentioned is indeed a rectifier bridge. The motors in these compressors run on 120v DC @ 4 - 6 Amps they're about a 500-700watt motor. Could be wrong but that's what I've been able to gather. Also that rectifier bridge is a common cause of fuses blowing or the breakers popping as they tend to short out and go bad on the AC input side. P/N on that rectifier is typically *KBPC608*
@williamkaczmarek3996

Do you happen to know what the P?N is for the Reed Valve? I've got one of these and it doesn't build pressure.

The vexing problem my father has right now: He just bought a nice old Porter Cable 19.2V 1/2-inch drill driver from a Facebook ad. The drill is nice, but the NiCad 19.2 V batteries are shot. Which battery adaptor and modern lithium ion batteries will work with this old Porter Cable drill-driver? There has to be a way to do this.

important note many of these adapters do not have a low voltage cut off. once lithium go below a the low voltage thresholds they tend to die or have shortened life. Its possible to add a small low voltage cut off circuit inside the adapter,

That is true. At the first sign of motor speed decreasing, I pull the battery and charge it. I don't think that is a bad plan because these simple chargers usually won't start charging a battery that has a voltage that has gotten too low and will show them as a defective battery.
@cameranmanner4701

@@thetinkeringjuggernaut8538 On power tools that have high power demands I think there would be a noticeable difference in performance to recharge, but tools such as a fan or radio, usb chargers i would not use them unless there is a low volt cut off.

This might be the issue I'm having. Used the brand new battery for the first time and it powered down to completely "dead" after 20 minutes. Tried to recharge it but the charger says it's fully charged. What is this low voltage cut off thing you're talking about? I'm so p*ssed because it was part of a mothers day gift
@cameranmanner4701
@cameranmanner4701 3 жыл бұрын
@@wild_for_nature9932 low voltage cut off (bms) prevents a battery from being drained to a dangerously low voltage. once this happens it damages the internal cells causing shorten life span or possible non use as the bms will prevent any charging. the opposite case also exist where too much power being drawn where a thermistor will sense the temperature and the bms will kill the power draw, this prevents killing the cells or causing a fire. but charging still possible, you will have to wait for it to cool down. Your option to see if your battery is toast you will need to open the pack (pack uses security screws (torx) and measure each cell for voltage. I can't remember what a healthy low voltage is you will need to look. Once you find the bad cell(s) you can try and recharge it. I would look through YT on how to repair these packs. Is this a branded battery or a third party? besides lying about amp specs, I find the 3rd party batteries don't always use a good bms and cheap cells to keep cost down. its really hit and miss. you have to find a reputable seller for 3rd party.

I did this with my Milwaukee 18 volt tool set. The problem I have is it drains the battery way down if I leave the battery on the tool. Simple fix right? Take the battery off. Yeah, not so much, I keep forgetting, and then I have to jump start it with another battery to get it to charge, after the third time it was DOA. You experience this with yours?
