Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure is 100 minutes of Thomas and Skiff torture and they are treated like butt-monkeys in the movie by the Fat Controller (Though he did it to Thomas mostly as punishment for breaking the railway’s rules and getting into numerous accidents and incidents that caused delay in the railway, almost getting himself and the other engines killed and making excuses about it to get scot-free, despite the fact that Thomas also made a lot of discoveries and did heroic deeds in the movie and the Fat Controller should be grateful towards him for it not angry, luckly the Fat Controller comes to his senses at the end, regrets his behavior towards Thomas and apologizes to him for it and finally praises and acts grateful towards him for his discoveries and heroics and promises to be a better friend from now on. The Fat Controller was also being overprotective towards Thomas and the engines on Sodor though he does go too far with it.) and Sailor John, Thomas (Though he was mostly to blame for it all himself, so The Fat Controller did have a slight right to be angry at him.) gets into numerous accidents in the film and despite making discoveries out of it in the process like the pirate ship all the Fat Controller does is strictly punish Thomas for his accidents (And Thomas even tries to make excuses to get himself out of it scot-free, but fails.) by demoting him to second-class jobs and assignments and making Ryan the new number one engine without stopping to realize that Thomas’s accidents were not out of being a naughty engine or jerk like he previously believed but only due to making reckless and overconfident decisions Thomas was learning to get over himself, (Dramatically missing the point) The Fat Controller reaches a rage breaking point over Thomas’s behavior when a third-act misunderstanding or fury-fueled foolishness moment when she sees Thomas pursing Ryan with Dynamite lightened up by Ryan’s bad coal and Thomas pushing the dynamite into a chasm and comes to the assumption that Thomas was trying to either blow up and kill Ryan with the dynamite or dispose of it to slow down the new railway’s construction as revenge towards Sir Topham Hatt for his strictness and bossiness and Ryan for trying to steal his position as number one engine (And believed that Thomas then disposed of the dynamite when Sir Topham Hatt caught him in the act of committing murder on Ryan to destroy the evidence.) when in reality Thomas was trying to protect everyone from the dynamite lit up by Ryan’s bad coal he neglected to warn him about and was being a hero and Sir Topham Hatt then angrily scolds Thomas for his presumed aforementioned wrongdoings refusing to allow Thomas and the others speak up and explain what really happened believing it to be another excuse so Thomas could leave scot-free again and sends Thomas to his shed for the rest of the day as punishment for these presumed wrongdoings and orders everyone else back to work heartbreaking Thomas that night to the point of joining forces with Sailor John and Skiff to find Sodor’s lost treasure to drown his sorrows and make amends with Sir Topham Hatt and Marion and Thomas later do find the treasure but Sir Topham Hatt gives all the credit to Marion and not to Thomas due to the earlier dynamite incident and plans to give it to a Museum with Thomas being on Topham’s side of the agreement on the matter causing Sailor John to angrily turn on Thomas as he wanted the treasure all to himself. In the climax after Thomas and the fellow engines and Skiff work together to defeat Sailor John and have him arrested by the police despite losing the treasure in the process that was later rescued by scuba divers, Ryan explains this and clears up the misunderstandings behind the dynamite incident to Topham confessing Thomas’s true heroics and the reasons behind his flaws causing Sir Topham Hatt in a jerkass realization to heart fully and calmly and softly apologize to Thomas for being so harsh, mean-spirited, strict and stern on him for his behavior and for unfairly scolding and punishing him for something that was never his fault in the first place and for being an unintentional ungrateful bastard and for behaving just like Sailor John does towards Skiff (Jerks are worse than villains) and finally praise Thomas for his heroics and discoveries and gives him his number one position as the engine in Sodor he is back and promises to try to be a better friend to him from now on and treat him more like ab independent friend instead of a bossed around servant and Thomas happily forgives him and makes amends with Ryan too. Sailor John meanwhile is a much bigger jerk than Topham was in the movie due to being an actual egocentric villain instead of a strict and bossy jerk with a heart of gold and John treats Skiff (Who isn’t a villain like Sailor John but an actual hero and actually loved Thomas and never wanted to hurt him or do anything wrong evil or villainous like John did.) like dirt and a servant instead of a friend for the majority of the movie bossing and ordering him around even more than Topham did to Thomas in the movie but in a more stern or strict matter especially while trying to escape and sail away with the treasure in the climax as laser-guided karma for his abuse towards Skiff (Topham would get his towards Thomas at a later date.) which lead to Skiff betraying and defeating John and after John’s arrest being sold to a new captain and owner who truly loves and cares about him unlike John.

Absolutely love the amount of college students I’ve been seeing giving proper post secondary presentations on a series that I grew up with and loved. I recently just gave a presentation at my film school about Thomas and the Magic Railroad and why it’s a bad film and like looked at it critically and both my class and my prof loved it. Everybody loved it and so it’s just kind of been really nice and really affirming and really reassuring that there’s other college kids too, who love the same show I do and love the same franchise that I do and I think it’s really cool that there’s more of us out there. Godspeed, to you sir.

Most entertaining! Great paper, I read it! I especially like the part about the stained glass window dedicated to the Rev, and the symbolism with God. I also think its cool and Thomas and James have the same names as the Apostles. Clever writing, clever video.

Amazing documentary video! I have watched the whole video and I learned something new for sure! And it was that old man who probably inspired Thomas! And it was really awesome to meet you that day on May, it never felt better to visit here for the first time that day. And I’m very happy to be your camera man at the LALS. I hope you can visit this November’s Thomas event at Perris! -Daniel B
