Nice set. I just got this set as well and I have the KATO powered rivarossi engine too Im actually trying to sell now...there were 250 of them made, but there is an add on car Im looking for too. They say Concor but they are all Rivarossi and this is one of the only sets that Rivarossi made the Dome tail car for. Rivarossi owned Concor. This engine never actually existed for this trajn. Its the Empire State Hudson repainted. Very very nice set and sorry to hear about your family member :(

There are a few things about b.e. that bothers me, I really wish they were cheaper per car, and just sold track etc. as an extra optional purchase. I wish you got a choice of what types of cars you wanted to receive instead of whatever they were printing at the moment. It would also be awesome if they had an unpainted edition if you wanted to convert a bunch of cars into a rare or non real roadname. There is no cheap way to get into longer ho scale passenger trains and b.e. are the only guys who will keep handing you new cars as long as your paying, it's just such a bad price to pay 890 dollars after 10 'installments' and have 8 cheap cars with 1 real, and 1 dummy loco. You would think that they would be dying for regular monthly subscribers like patreon for that stable income but no, it's gotta be a bad deal too.🎉

Been in a similar situation. Bought a GP50 and I knew it had broken handrails and I planned on repairing those with some wire but in the description it was sold as a good runner. Gears were stripped and cracked. I've had good luck online and there are alot of reputable sellers but ill always prefer train shows were I can have some tested to see if something meeds either simple cleaning or a complete overhaul.

Hi, great video. Thanks for that. I have non working Mallard, and just didn’t know where to start. Can I ask tho, where did you get that mat to place the train on ? I need exactly that to protect the train instead of it sitting on a cloth . Thanks

Thanks man, and you’re very welcome. The mat is a Peco servicing cradle. I got mine several years ago, and they are a life saver for Hornby engines. I can’t remember how much I paid for mine, but I hope they still sell them cheap enough.

Sam's Trains took a look at the Bradford Exchange Queen Elizabeth Remembrance set, and he absolutely despises that set. Even though the colors look absolutely beautiful and gorgeous, it was very overpriced and was of very low quality. Do not buy anything from Bradford Exchange.

By the way, I think this is an out dated idea of traction tyres, if you did remove them sometimes it wont make that much difference. Some newer locomotives So Not have the traction tyres which proves my point, have a nice day.

Yeah, traction tires shouldn’t be a thing anyway. Yet, Hornby is known to even put traction tires on their locomotives cause they don’t wanna put any weight in them for some reason. I don’t know if any of their newer releases have them unless it’s a small engine which I can understand I guess, but you’re right. Traction tires are way out dated.

I actually do believe that tender is the exact same design plarail used on their original Henry model. I actually opened mine up and inside you can see that it still has the tabs that held the coal onto the tender and it still has the space to put the battery. The coal piece even still has the tab at front from where you would pull on it to open it on the original model.

when Mattel gets it right they do get it right. just look at the legacy/30th anniversary collections for their Jurassic park lines last year (wow a year already 0-0) or the amber/ Hammond collection figures meant to compete with neca figures this..isnt quite one of those times. ITs that strange in between where if it was its own thing both the show and the models it might be average but its THOMAS have some dignity will ya? XD

Nice that Thomas now has a friend to talk to. Once, an engine attached to a train was afraid of a few drops of rain; It went into a tunnel, squeaked through its funnel and wouldn't come out again. I prefer Season 1 and 2 Henry, so much better than his CGI look and model, that's for sure. For some unknown reason, the only thing I'm not too keen on is his theme tune. I love the other engines' tunes of Seasons 1 and 2, but I don't like Henry's theme very much. I can't explain why.
