Interesting looking back isn't it. You look sooo much happier than back then. I did a photoshoot in 2010 (it was free, I'd won it) and absolutely not something that's in my comfort zone, but my husband came across one of the photos and interestingly didn't recognise me at first. Was interesting looking back through the other photos from the shoot with him (they're in a book, just for me, no one else) the person in those photos absolutely didn't know who she was. We learn and grow so much through experience. Good to look back and realise how far we've come.

I love this vid. I agree with the Be Bored thing. I try to teach my kids this. I explain that it is really important to build up their boredom thresholds. It’s in the times when you’re bored and have no distractions that creative ideas are formed. I’ve had so many fun times as a result of being bored and coming up with some daft, hare brained scheme that resulted in the best of times. That said, it was easy to be bored when TV only had 3 channels and they weren’t 24x7, there was no internet, no gaming systems, no KZbin. It’s too easy not to be bored now. But when you take all that away (like when you go to Cornwall and can’t get any signal for anything) the kids love the freedom they get from being bored, and start to make their own fun skimming stones, jumping in waves, and they love it.

You know what - my two boys have had to endure (I’ll change that word…) - a 10 hour drive with no screens as the leisure battery in the van is faulty - they were brilliant company (aged 12 and 15) and have been funny and engaged all day as a result - it’s been lovely. I can’t agree with anything you’ve said more. The opposite of distraction is traction - I can’t believe I’ve only just worked that out about the word..!!!

"If you want to do something then get on with it" Yes!! I've gotten bored of the "one day". I hear it so often and am so aware that one day might never come. I've got a physical list of things I'd like to do before I'm 50 (not because I think my life will be over after that, just needed a focused time scale) and I'm loving ticking them off. Most recently... paragliding. I love the mountains, so when was in switzerland for a race 3wks ago and saw a company advertising paragliding, I grabbed the opportunity. What an experience ❤

Great video & this is absolutely true. At 45 I was overweight & was diagnosed with heart disease, type 2 diabetes & hypertension. I was very ill, on a cocktail of medication & had given up on life. But at 46, I decided I didn't want to be like this anymore, so I went 100% plant based & started to exercise. Within a year I had lost 6 stone, reversed ALL my health problems & was able to come off my medication. I'm now 52, slim, toned & the fittest I've ever been, I regularly enjoying yoga, gym, running & I'm a keen mountain biker. People say I look younger than I did 15 years ago & I'm seeing a lovely guy who's twenty years younger than me. So I definitely believe with a positive attitude, getting older can be some of the best years of your life :)

Jesus will keep you young at heart. Yes it's good to push yourself responsibly, mind, body, soul and spirit but ultimately the person must ask the question where am I heading to? The greatest freedom is to be free of the worrier self. Jesus has taken that old worry self and crucified it, and replaced with a new creation. Yet there is also a promise in Psalm 103. He renews my youth like the eagle. 😉 Best of both worlds. 🙌 All praise goes to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

@@daviocampi6951 I think that you misunderstand me. I was agreeing that life is what you make it and that although we all age that is no barrier to be continuously improving our lives and ourselves. I do not see my advancing years as a hindrance to my enjoyment of life. Quite the opposite. I have more scope for leisure and things that I enjoy. The main reason that I am keen to make the most of my life is that I am an atheist. I know that when I am dead it is all over, so there is no time to be just treading water. To this end I seize every opportunity I get to live my life to the full, but thank k u you for your kind words. Regards, Bob McGowan.

@daviocampi6951 Ай бұрын
@@BobMcGowan-NotTheChairCircle Dear Bob, You have chosen to be an atheist yet it doesn't mean that your choice is true. I have been following Christ for 37 years and know that what He says is true after testing. The proof is in the pudding you have to taste it to see how good it is. If it isn't true than even Saint Paul writing to the Corinthian church which he set up said: "If there is no resurrection than Christians are the most pitiful of people." 1 Corinthians 15:13-19. "Now if the rising of Christ from the dead is the very heart of our message, how can some of you deny that there is any resurrection? For if there is no such thing as the resurrection of the dead, then Christ was never raised. And if Christ was not raised then neither our preaching nor your faith has any meaning at all. Further it would mean that we are lying in our witness for God, for we have given our solemn testimony that he did raise up Christ-and that is utterly false if it should be true that the dead do not, in fact, rise again! For if the dead do not rise neither did Christ rise, and if Christ did not rise your faith is futile and your sins have never been forgiven. Moreover those who have died believing in Christ are utterly dead and gone. Truly, if our hope in Christ were limited to this life only we should, of all mankind be the most to be pitied!" Christ has endured this long because He is true to His Word- the holy bible testifies.
@BobMcGowan-NotTheChairCircle

You are supposing that I am taking this standpoint from a place of ignorance. I am not. I have read the Bible, cover to cover - from 'In the beginning' to 'Amen" - very carefully and I have also attended christian churches of differing denominations over several years. If it is a matter of faith then we are both right. My faith in the non-existence of supernatural beings is total. Logic would dictate, however, that one of us must be wrong. Thank you again for your kind interest. Sincerely, Bob McGowan.
