No. See the references. This is electroplating, which is based on Electrolysis principle. In this metal connected to positive terminal acts as anode and undergoes oxidation.

I just want to ask if the fixed carbon is lower than 50%, does it indicate that the charcoal is classified as low rank or not ideal for public use?

Lowest quality coal with minimum fixed carbon can be used for domestic applications only. Generally fixed carbon is in the range of 50-95%. Depending upon the requirements or the applications we can use the coal. As per your question if fixed carbon is lower than 50% it is certainly low rank coal. Without instruments we have to some suitable indicators which can show colours. With use of instruments, no indicator is required. We don't have to observe colour changes.
