Please dear god let me update this. It's horrific and doesn't represent anything close to what the software is capable of at this point. This is what I would hand people in an insider meeting to tell your support staff how to work with the software. This is terrible and I can't even follow it as a user. Let us help you

It would be best to have a voice over with all of your videos. It's difficult to try to read the instructions while also trying to see the example. Better to watch the example while listening to the instructions.

can anyone explain the what is a subchapter and the purpose of it?

I'd like to see these tutorials get more into intent of the features vs just a click-and-show of the user interface. For example, when would I create subchapter? Example. How does the content of the chapter and subchapters combine to form the final output of the manuscript? Show an example.

Really liking a lot with this app so far but it doesn't seem to be possible to have blank spaces in the standard grid anymore as shown in this video? There is only the plus sign beneath the card, you can't skip a space if you want to follow a timeline in another column for instance. This limitation makes it of little use as a tool for plotting, are you planning to bring that functionality back?

I just started using this, (literally last night) and I am in love with it. It almost makes me mad that I didn't hear about it sooner. I started really writing again in 2020, and spent 3yrs paying the about the same for Microsoft Office and not getting all these amazing novel writing centered features. I found other novel writing software felt really overwhelming and complex while this has been easy for me to jump in and use without spending hours on youtube. The freeform grid for plotting is EXACTLY what I've been looking for and needing for years! I do wish I could use the mouse wheel to zoom it in and out, but its a minor inconvenience. Like I said, I've only just begun using this but I'm already planning to drop my Microsoft sub in favor of this instead. So glad I found LivingWriter!!!

Looking for how to actually use Elements, Characters, Chapters etc. Not necessarily how to set up. Such as how to combine chapters once created and why sub-chapters and such would be created. The practical use of this program would be beneficial in help topics and videos.

Great questions. I hope you get an answer. I also have no idea why people would use a sub-chapter.

This is pretty neat! Though It would be cool to be able to put a little text on the connection line between two elements. This would allow creating a quick overview of i.e. relationships across multiple characters or how they interact with another element etc.

This is a handy way of plotting that I never thought of trying and this tool makes it easy to do. My only gripe is that I can't color code anything to my liking and I'd like the ability to resize the columns in the standard grid. Being able to switch views from standard to freeform with one click would be nice also to get a different idea of how things connect. I believe the color thing is in development but I had wished it was already implemented being it should have been an obvious feature to have in the first place. LW has potential and hopefully it makes the right upgrades to be a really amazing tool to work with.

Yeah, and you see right a way that it is a half-way implementation. If you have Harry Potter and his cousin Larry Potter, you want to refer to both as "Potter" as well, you never know whom you will select.
@rubyspot..

You have the option to not select any of them, or read better the character´s name. It was a decision to name them so close to each other.

Perhaps a little more interaction with your users would be a productive strategy? Wouldn't hurt to have hard-working how-to content posted here as well. The emphasis on fluffy marketing, instead of support and engagement sends a poor message (greater focus on capturing sales than on customers).

I’ve been writing and I’m at about 80000 words. I’m getting tied up in knots wondering if I’ve already used an idea/turn of phrase… does this software identify duplication for me? Am I essentially too late to get good moneys worth from it?

Whiteboard, sticky notes just don't do it for me. This afternoon I used the Plotting tool and everything just fell into place. This along with the Dark Mode that saves my eyes are the best features for me, along with the clean intuitive User Interface. Livingwriter puts Scrivener to shame (no, actually, they do that to themselves).

Is there a proper user manual for this software? There doesn't seem to be a way to create a page break or number pages..?? And how do you "save" a file.. what format is it in when saved? The only download available is PDF or Word and when you do the download, all the format disappears.. you just get endless lines of text. ??? Printing does not stay true to the default fond size, and auto-indent doesn't seem to work. If there is a user manual, that would really help because all I could find was a Blog with a bit of basic information.
