I disagree with the term 'ESO hater'. I guess there are people out there who've commented on how they feel the combat feels stupid and floaty or the lack of good mounts. You don't here much from these people because they've played the game for a short time and move on. Most of the people who get called ESO haters are really ZOS haters: they're upset with how the company has treated the game, upset at the poor server performance or lack of class balance or how their bug reports seem to continually fall on deaf ears. People only get this upset when they really care about the game.

After playing (forcing myself to play) for almost a month, I hadn't found a game this boring, very, very, very, very boring Why? Empty maps, repetitive missions It doesn't matter what class you choose because they can all do everything You found a super epic sword that you like a lot? It doesn't matter, in 5 minutes you will find a better one and 5 minutes later a better one than that and so on But it doesn't matter because it doesn't matter your weapon or class you can literally just stand around giving basic attacks and you'll kill everything and when I say everything is EVERYTHING What a huge disappointment

@@Roarshak lol. Hel Ra Citadel spent 3 months broken in the Elsweyr Q2 2019 patch (the shield throw wouldn't telegraph so it would behave oddly), at the beginning of last month the PC version of the game kept having performance issues. And the only places where people could speak their concerns/share their thoughts be it the official eso forums the steam discussions or even Reddit at this point. Players seemed more worried about getting a bard for their houses (which would most likely be $40) or fully transparent windows for housing smh. The fact that something in this game can be broken for 3 months really speaks a lot.

I've been playing ESO for a bit over 3 years now and it's my favorite game. I don't enjoy every part of it (mostly just IA and lag in Cyrodiil) but I love it. Even the grind for gear etc. I've been in one guild since the beginning of my ESO journey and the community is amazing. I love sharing my little DPS numbers and my little character stories and outfits. I've now started doing vet trials with this guild plus two more. I went from only dreaming of doing vet trials to doing them multiple times a week... they're now the things I look forward to most each week.

Soo, you are why you love eso. The game is trash but it lets you become a better person and have fun with friends. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying eso but unless you are a real elder scrolls fan or don’t like reading there is no reason for a prospective mmo player not to play FF14 instead. It does everything you said you enjoyed about it but better? Payment model: trash Game designed around micro transactions Combat has no depth till endgame Enemies pose no threat New player experience is bad Group content is way too sparse as a new player (if you and a friend jump into eso, theres nothing to do for ages) Bad crafting gameplay Expansions have to be bought individually if you’re not paying a sub Expensive sub for a game with p2win, you don’t even get much for it, certainly not everything. Dont get me wrong, im saying why not to get into eso, when there are better options for a similar thing. Not that you shouldn’t play it at all.
@Roarshak4 ай бұрын
No. If you watched the entire video I clearly explain what aspects of the game that keep me engaged. Glad you have your own opinion on what you enjoy. FF14 is one of thr worst MMOs I have ever played. I am not you. I enjoy ESO.
@majikalmcmuffin62584 ай бұрын
@@Roarshak woah, i said nothing about you bro, i was talking about why others are choosing better options. Those aspects that keep you engaged are all present in other games. It’s not what makes eso good that matters to a new player, it’s reasons why it’s bad (which you gloss over) By the way, of course i watched the entire video, the reasons why i mentioned those aspects is because you didn’t, and those aspects are what actually generate the negativity toward the game. MMO’s are social commitments, choosing the best one is important to people, so knowing exactly what is wrong with a game is really important for those looking to play. Your video really doesn’t touch on any of those things or refutes any of them, it highlights what you enjoy about it which is said is not unique to eso.
@Roarshak4 ай бұрын
Hence why the title is "why I love ESO." There are a million negative youtubers out there giving you that perspective. Thats not the purpose of this channel, nor this video. This video was not to convince you. I could care less about what you play and enjoy. Thats who you are. Not me. I understand all the negative hate and agree with some. Though 90% of reviews are from people who barely scratch the surface of what you can do in ESO. I made another video called "what can eso do better" to address all of that because people have to argue my own opinion about a game I love when that was never the point. Its impossible for MMO nerds to enjoy anything anymore. Sorry that I can find join in housing and simple things. FF14 os one of the most trash gaming experiences I have ever had. Game is hot garbage.

@@Roarshak I feel like you’re talking past me here, i’m not attacking you here man, if you are offended then your self worth is tied to this game. It feels a little disingenuous though to assert that ffxiv is hot garbage. It does everything you said you enjoyed about eso, better than eso. Like did you play 1.0 or something lol 😂 You don’t need to play for a thousand hours to know how eso handles its monitization, and for most that’s enough. I find great fulfilment in ffxiv player housing, or chatting with strangers and friends, playing the markets, doing raids etc. i wont pretend to have more than 75 hours of experience with eso, i’ve tried to like it, but for the reasons is set out i cant and neither can many others, who'd rather play a game that doesn’t nickel and dime you.

I’ll never forget the first time we played the Lair of Maarselok. I hate that dungeon as a random pug because it’s too long. But, the first time we fought against that lizard with Selene and trying to get the Azureblight hoarvers and stranglers outta the way, the dragon’s shout sent all of us flying. When i figured out the mech, i started blocking. But when all of my group mates kept getting flinged away by the shout, i just started laughing. 😂 every freaking time the shout happens, they all get blown back like flying potatoes. 😂 i wasnt mad, i was just bewildered. I love the atmosphere, character customization, housing, and build progression. Unfortunately its combat is the only way to apply those builds. There's practically no targeting, all damage is the same generic damage to enemies, controls are clunky, exploits are rampant, dungeons and trials feel like following a script, and now there is an element of pay to win (can't have all combat abilities unless you pay real money). To elaborate, there's just one great big hit box on enemies, including other players, for targeting, and it doesn't matter to the target what kind of damage they are taking. There are no weaknesses or strengths to certain things and no weak points or strong points to target. In trials everybody has their place to stand and "damage until dead" with some arbitrary tedium thrown in like flipping a switch or everybody dies, tedium in lieu of more detailed combat. After my honeymoon period all these things began to become apparent. After one year and 1600 levels on 10 characters, plus 800 levels on 9 characters on EU, I'm just having a hard time treating eso as anything more than a 3D chat room.
@johnhenderson84435 ай бұрын
As for the economic system, you can't become wealthy by doing warrior stuff, exploring dungeons, questing, and slaying enemies. To get rich enough to really progress or fully indulge in things, you have to trade in your sword for a ledger book and play Sim Trader. While I'm sure some people enjoy having a shopping simulator, I did not start playing ESO so I could play Sim Trader.
@Roarshak4 ай бұрын
As someome who makes a lot of money many ways, thats just not true. You can run people for weapons with your stickerbook, you can farm collectible pieces from public dungeons while power leveling, you can farm materials, you can fish, you can farm popular gear for divines, sharpened, precise, etc..., you can craft enchantments with 1 click and fill your stores, easy 2x on your money, you can explore the newest zone and sell so much. This year we sold ink, furnishing plans, and new crafting materials. You can sell carries for millions of gold, in fact some of the best gold in the game come from the best warriors helping you get no death achievements etc. Someone I know paid 8 million for the beast personality. Thats a dungeon for 8 million no death.. There are many ways to challenge yourself in ESO and profit. Yes, you can also flip the store. What makes ESO great is you can make gold from so many places. The stores are alive and unique and offer you opportunites to buy low and sell high. You can even buy furniture from the weekend vendor and flip it on the store the next week. An auction house would be the death of ESO. We should be grateful we have such a beautiful and complex economy.
@Roarshak4 ай бұрын
ESO is definitley more about dodging and mechanics than weaknesses. I personally love the combat and don't find it cluncky at all once you understand there is a global cooldown and you stop spamming keys. (Not saying you are, I was spammimg when I started) There are not many MMOs where rangers, healers and mages can cast without standing still. The scrying system is not pay to win at all and this is not an arena game. This is an MMO that releases a new expansion every year, which is very rare for them. We get new content all the time and many people are an expansion or two behind and can still do all the content. ESO does not increase caps during expansions, just gives you new tools to reach them in different ways. Many old builds and skills from characters will always be the best. It just gives us vet players something new to be excited about. All im doing is throwing horses at people for far less damage, but its fun for me. When you open the achievement book you discover all sorts of new challenges that come with cool rewards. I found that to be the biggest factor in giving me direction and purpose in the game.

It feels like you have to have hundreds of hours a week available to you else you'll just be stuck playing casually.
