I have them. I have flywheel to uJoint. Do you need the adapter between the Deutz housing and the gearbox? Or do you need everything from the engine back? Got transmission?

My Uncle Tom Carpenter built this boat in my backyard and turned my basement into a wood working shop. He later finished this in his shop on harsens island.

How does it drive compared to original engine. It's is a 5 cylinder?

Drives like a small block/ 2 bbl V8 in traffic. But also pulls a 25' gooseneck 65 mph. 21 mph in town, 16 pulling the trailer. Tough 4.7 liter engine. It has been in that truck 25 years with nothing but belts and filters.

Yeah that's what I was thinking? I'm a semi-retired mechanic who grew up on old s*** and that's all I like but? I would have taken the original flat head or engine of that year which would have been a Y block? And I would have rebuilt it blue printed it modified it a little bit to make more horsepower yet not do modern things on it? I don't mind some diesel swap but when people have that is their only option because they don't know how to rebuild old Motors it makes me wonder who's the mechanic on this Earth? I always revived and like Reviving old Power Plant I just don't have the money or shop or live on my own property

@@brantardrey7360 Yeah this would originally had a 272 Y-block, unless it was a 6cyl. I own a 56 F100, with a rebuilt and somewhat modified 292, that I recently finished, it runs quite well. I was a mechanic for years myself

@@wyo1446 yeah I think I would have done the same thing put in the 292 HD engine modified dual exhaust 4 Barrel modify the engine a little bit bigger valve job ported heads more compression probably up the oil pressure heavier valve springs and maybe take away some of the driven items for lighter weight but not necessarily a hot rod? But probably add 50-70 more horsepower to it that way it wouldn't have to be so low geared? But in any case I like the old power plants take care and this is to the Brotherhood of fellow mechanics

It's probably a Spicer 3 speed auxillary transmission and a clark 5 speed for the main transmission

I just saw this. It is a Spicer 6041 4 speed aux. Half step over and under the direct and a double under.

I remember a local farm implement dealer had one in a Ford pickup in the late 70’s when we thought 50 cents a gallon for gas was outrageous. You always knew by the sound when he went by.
