Ai art isn't art. It's words typed into a machine. Art takes thought time effort emotion and patience. A machine takes words and makes pixels. No hate on digital, that's how I draw.

People love Pokemon Cards for their art and some of the most beautifully made pieces were made by real artists, not to mention those iconic Clay Art ones. So the fact they disqualified them makes me so so so happy. And let me say this, if you use AI to generate images, you are not a artist. You didn't make it, a computer did. You editing it doesnt make you a artist either. You're just a photo editor. Editing photos you don't own to begin with, espessically since it was a computer made it. And most stuff generated is already stolen art from other people. Its just art theft with extra steps no matter how you put it.

Ai “art” is not art. The beautiful creations that humans are capable of is what immerses people in art while ai just makes it all look sloppy and stale. I think it’s a great thing they got under fire for this as art should stay human no matter what, it serves 0 purpose for ai to be involved in art. ESPECIALLY in a competition as some people probably took hours and hours to create what they wanted to make and are proud of what they did at the end. Is it really satisfying to just have a machine produce utter slop rather than make it yourself? Definitely should be against the rules as they didn’t make it and it hurts other artists who actually spend time because they love what they do

Ai designs and prompts or ai "art" id NOT art if it is using almost exclusively ai. Art is am entirely diffetent process ai "art" is just stolen.

Part of the fun of collecting the cards is seeing all the different art styles knowing that they took time and effort to draw where as ai just takes a second

The part people forget it getting the AI to do what you want does take a bit of effort. I’ve seen an artist sketch an artwork, have AI make improvements. Then the artist sketch over the AI art and then have AI make further improvements. Every improvement/change takes a bit of time to get a fully precise response. AI is like a toddler that has all the knowledge in the world, but a tunnel view of how to execute it.

That's a great point! I do web design and I often use AI now to create vector icons. It's easy and I can stand up sites way faster for customers.

Don't try to defend that shit. It doesn't matter that it takes a mild amount of "effort" its stealing other peoples works and everything it makes is incredibly bland because there is no human decision making process. It completely destroys any creativity the piece had originally

@@Man-qf1lw ok but what human effort goes into any art? Most animations are computer made. Most movies are heavily computer altered. The only difference is.. instead of you having to hire 100 people to make it, you have one and it’s not even a person. People copy people’s ideas every day. Only thing you can’t seem to wrap your head around is we’re all competing for the same concept. Only now we have a new type of competition.

@@edumacation4583 yeah animation made with a computer but they are still drawn by people. Most things that are computer altered are still edited and changed by people. The computer just gives the tools to do that. Yes people copy ideas but they add on to them with new ideas, they can add interesting things to already created to make something new. That is not a thing that AI is physically capable of doing. Every single thing it makes is just ideas that have already been made by humans. All it does is steal. the more and more it gets used the more everything around us becomes bland and soulless.

It's against the rules because they didn't make it, right? Getting AI to work how you want it to is a skill, but it isn't art. It's like if you needed art, and were very good at using search engines to find exactly what you wanted.

I'd agree with that. I think that's part of the bigger AI debate: are AI artists actually artists or is it skill versus art. Who knows, definitely interesting!

@AceTrainerX artist here, the thing is, ai is notorious for stealing art from actually creators without their consent (normally without their knowledge actually), without paying them or giving them proper credit. it's a mashed up, layered collage of people's art and ai "corrections." it's honestly art theft with the help of a robot. (my view as an artist)

@AceTrainerX from my understanding, yes, actually, though quite a few (in and out of the artist community) find that ai art used for advertisement, logos, anything that's meant to represent the product or company tends to be perceived as "tacky" or cheap. though, a few companies (mass majority being very large companies) still use ai "art" in their advertisements (I suppose because it's seen as "faster and cheaper" than paying an actual human for their work)
