We were in the storm too. The weather forecast was thunderstorms, 56 knots with westerly winds. Why didn't you go to the other side of Palma Bay which offered more protection like we did?

We also considered that, but since we have learned that the wind direction here in Mallorca is rarely what the weather forecast says. We decided that the best solution for us was to be in a large bay with few boats. Where did you stay?

We put it in starbord forward cabin. Cut out the cabinet, towards the center of the boat. We will show it in the upcoming video🤗

Just wondering, why didn't you mount them a bit further aft, to avoid shade from the boom? Also, how wide and long are those panels?

Shade from The boom is no issue, we are on full capacity around noon every day. When we decided on the location, we looked at the visual aspect and found this location was the best for us. They are 1134x1762mm

@@catastrophesailing6535 Thanks! I'm considering if I should install 3 or 4 panels there (2279X1134mm, 28kg). Depends on the design of the holding structure,. Planning to mount from dinghy davits and bimini only, 4 might be a bit heavy and much windage.

Nice to see that You are thinking safety when working with the electrical stuff. Are You sure that the chain will last when jumping waves on the oceans? I think a solid bar will be a better choice.

Thanks for the comment :) The chain is only a support. The plate is glued and screwed on two sides and there are tension bands from the hull onto the plate. So it should last even in big waves :)

You might regret bodging that heat exchanger up when it fails and lets you down in some remote part of the world, would be a good idea to get a spare and keep on board ❤

Nice vid. I have owned my 2009 Leopard 40 for 7 years now and we have sailed over 25000nm with her. We are currently in the Caribbean after crossing from Cape Town earlier this year. I done extensive work on mine including changing out the sail drives and engines for new model yanmars. If you are interested check out “catalong sailing” on KZbin.
