Now each one, teach one, reach one, young gun On one, listen to the warrior's drum Beatin' up the block with the ghetto hop that knock And make you wanna crash the spot And unlock explode (boom!) the alpha and omega code With drum rolls and old soul, we uphold And foretold to scores of six years ago Fast flow from G. Rap to Kool Moe Super syllable, major to the minimal Every individual, bounce to the tempo yo Lungs collapse and raps be trapped in The only way to make it happen, jaw-jappin', fast rappin' Yo, I'm the hot dog that run the hottest monologue In star poetic inserts and yes y'alls My speech is like holding two Glocks apiece The outreach that rock police The super adventure men pretend to put somethin' in bitches Win when we write, the Emmy winner, get hyped off any printer And I came to get it, hit it Like Operation PUSH, operate the tush Black octopus of soul, in inter-planetary patrol I planted my gold, and low and behold

This was written by the late Charlie Rich who came to Sun Records in Memphis soon after Elvis left. Charlie struggled for success until 1973. He was a master of too many genres and was a blues, jazz, soul, Gospel, pop, Rockabilly and country master. He wrote many great songs. Probably his greatest song was this and his demo version is the greatest version. In 1973 they hung a label on Charlie as a country singer. And he became best known (not for his greatest songs and performances) justt for some OK country songs written by others. To check him out, look on KZbin for his album "Feel Like Going Home: Essential Charlie Rich." You will hear his song "Who Will the Next Fool Be?" Even more great performances follow thereafter.

My husband is a very good bariton singer and wantet to do me a favor to my birthday and sang " 16 tons" really good. A tone is a tone, a song is a song, but Tom is Tom. But I love my husband for he knows he'll never sing like Tom.

I've been out on that open road You can be my full time, daddy, white and gold Singing blues has been getting old You can be my full time, baby Hot or cold Don't break me down (don't break me down) I've been travelin' too long (I've been travelin' too long) I've been trying too hard (I've been trying too hard) With one pretty song (with one pretty song) I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast I am alone at midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, but I I've got a war in my mind So, I just ride Just ride, I just ride, I just ride Dying young and playing hard That's the way my father made his life an art Drink all day and we talk 'til dark That's the way the road doves do it, ride 'til dark Don't leave me now (don't leave me now) Don't say good bye (don't say good bye) Don't turn around (don't turn around) Leave me high and dry (leave me high and dry) I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast I am alone at midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, but I I've got a war in my mind I just ride Just ride, I just ride, I just ride I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy I'm tired of driving 'til I see stars in my eyes All I've got to keep myself sane, baby So I just ride, I just ride I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast I am alone at midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, but I I've got a war in my mind I just ride Just ride, I just ride, I just ride

The natural emotion in Tom's voice is something to behold, and when he sings gospel it is amazing. But the thing about this man is that he can sing any style and still be brilliant. How many singers can do that ? Gospel, rock, pop, country, blues, ballads whatever. it doesn't matter to this man. He nails it every time.
