I wish to hear some actual music with bongos like guitar and bongo or flute and bingo or singing + guitar + bingo. But, unfortunately there’s very little in the way on the internet, just bongo with bongo and it’s nice also, but not actual music with bingos featuring prominently with minimal style music

Maybe it's just me, but after playing a real wooden Djembe with Goat skin, these artificial ones just sound to ringy and muddy for my taste.

Hey i just got a pair of bongos and congas but i have no idea where to start. I learned the basic tones like bass, open, muted, slap . But after that i have no idea what to do. I want to be able to play along to music and with a band, specifically r&b , pop and funk . What exactly do I need to learn???.

Thanks for sharing the different positions of the bongos. A different subject - do you have to read music notes when playing bongos?

I really want to get into congas. I’ve been looking on Facebook for some sort of deal. If I’m a beginner would I be ok with getting 1 conga rather than spending more money on a pair?

Not enough difference in sound between any of them to justify paying too much more? If i had to choose my decision would be based on heads, wood, weight, and price, prioritized in that order. I'd then put a Remo head on the macho, and a Manito on the hembra and call it a day. As a percussionist, with more decades playing than i care to admit, we're always chasing that next best sound, when the one in front of is just that? Have been thru a number of drums...various woods, fiberglass, head types, solid shell, penetrated shells, and shell sizes. Rope tuned, stainless/ chrome hardware, custom, and mass-produced. I appreciate the craftsmanship of handmade drums, however it hasn't always translated into the best sounding drum, for me? I integrated a number of electronic percusssion instruments into my kit 25 years ago, and with careful tweaking, they've added to what i can do as a musician. Enjoying music, and playing, playing, playing whatever you have is most important, yes? Appreciate the videos, and mahalo for sharing! ...By the way, my last name is the same as yours, and my brother is a great bongocero whose name starts with an E. Perhaps we are hermanos from an alternate reality?? ... :)
