Eric, I bought a set of Pearl Elite bongos ($500), I thought they would blow be away but I was disappointed. My first set of bongos LP Aspire ($30) used sound better to me & I am able to get more different sounds out of it. I tuned the Pearls different ways, & the reason I bought them was for the 9 inch drum, I thought I could get a lower conga drum sound out of it. What am I doing wrong? HELP! Mike 🪘

Hello Eric ! I'm really impressed by how our your congas sound. So warm and precise. I know it's your skill too, the way you hit them. but damn I just bought two differents pair of congas and they are far from that beautiful sound. I must confess they are not top end congas... but it's night and day. They have far more unwanted resonances. What do you think play the biggest role ? the head ? the skin ? the wood body ?

I'm not convinced Mopercs are any better than the Palladiums. The heads are the real game-changers. I will be buying some Manito heads.
