just picked up my 24 trd sport. while i was against the 4cyl turbo at first. I have to say it has way more low end torque. easily pulls my 4600 pound camper.

Just a lousy commercial. Turbo engine is a deal killer. Reliability is doubtfull and Toyota is already seeing early engine failures in both Tacoma and Tundras. Toyota has lost its way and is no longer the company that built its reputation on affordabity, reliability and durability. Building vehicles in Mexico should have resulted in reasonable pricing but prices are ridiculously high...just not worth the $$ anymore.
@theopenroadobsession53488 күн бұрын
Our intent was the show the consumer some insight into what tue 2024-25 model year entails. Yes, the engine is now turbocharged, however, with Toyotas long term reliability in the past, any flaws that come up with these new powertrains, we are confident that Toyota will get to the bottom of it and get them to the reliability level of the past.
@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD6 күн бұрын
Toyota has been making turbo gas and diesel engines for over 40 years now. They ALL last forever. The reliability is top notch.

What’s lousy about it ? He actualy covered most of the feature and highlight of the truck.. if you can’t afford it don’t hate on it. Just be honest lol. Issues these latest gen is having is nothing to be like holy shit man Toyota sucks. They all go thru some issues specially with first gen. It’s Toyota they will sort it out and like always beat everyone in the competition.. Toyota ain’t concern about your lousy opinion. If you look it up ? They are the best selling cars and truck company in the world… let that sink in bud.. 👍🏼

Don’t bother. The transmission is crap…! Does not have an electric tailgate option, seats are extremely hard, tons of cheap plastic inside and only has park warning assistance at the rear (how stupid). Goes to show you that it doesn’t matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it’s still a pig! Had a Highline and only kept it 6 months. Got a Highline R-Line Tiguan instead. What a pleasant difference!! That’s a well equipped, very comfortable and spacious vehicle!
@theopenroadobsession5348Ай бұрын
Haha how ironic, the owner of this car actually just traded this car for an R-Line Tiguan!

I really like the transmission. If you grew up on manuals you can appreciate the effort they put into it

This vehicle is not safe to drive, there is a recall on it 🤔 Toyota sucks right now 😕
@theopenroadobsession5348Ай бұрын
That is true, there is definitely a recall. However, most manufactures will face recalls, especially during a first model year. It is true, Toyota is definitely taking a leap of faith with this new model and all new powertrain and only time will tell how it holds up. From what we can tell though, in terms of space and power, it definitely delivers. In terms of safety and build quality, time will tell.
@sw6155Ай бұрын
@@theopenroadobsession5348yes, most do recalls, except no other manufacturer have people mindlessly spending money on them while reciting the mantra “most reliable”, “most reliable”, “most reliable”, while paying ridiculously more than it’s worth! It’s been YEARS since I started hearing Toyotas having all kinds of issues… Yes m, including mechanical and safety issues… By now it’s not any better than Mazdas or even (non-cvt) Nissans… So, yeah… Let’s be honest about it, and bring Toyota out their pedestal! About time they’re made to pay more respect to us, consumers! THE LOW PRODUCTION SCHEME TO JUSTIFY JACKED UP PRICES ALONE should be more than enough to make EVERYONE revolt and not buy a single unit again until they have their production back to normal! It’s 2024 and they’re STILL only selling vehicles with 1 key fob only! This is UNJUSTIFIABLE!!! Stooop simping for Toyota! Stop buying Toyotas! Wise up folks!

Sorry, But Toyota is putting Corporate Profits ahead of its customers when they downgraded to a twin turbo 4 cyl engine. This car is GROSSLY UNDER- POWERED for its weight. That and when those turbo go (and they usually do after like 4 years) they have to be replaced in pairs and would cost you over $5000 to replace the turbos. I have been a Toyota owner for over 25 years and will NEVER AGAIN buy any Toyota product unless the bring back the 6 cyl engines.
@theopenroadobsession5348Ай бұрын
The guy talking in the video is leasing the car that we reviewed in here. It definitely feels decently powerful if you take into account the very heavy chassis that it’s pulling around. That said there is a reason he decided to go for a lease with this new 2.4 L turbo engine. Since it’s the first Toyota turbo, since basically the early generation supra, it’s definitely going to face reliability issues and it also has injectors along the top of the engine which have to come off during servicing for even something simple like a valve cover Replacement which will definitely increase repair costs. So it’s definitely good for a lease, but should be second-guessed in regards to a purchase.👍
