Very interesting. Excellent audio recording. The first track in the video sounded spatial and good (on decent desktop speakers). The second piece was garbage, musically, and tonally. If the first track had not been there, I would have stopped the video. Later in the video better demo and very bad demo again. I remember the Tannoys as rectangular boxes and this model code was no exception. They also would have had a forward facing port. So it seems to me that a DIY woodworker has replaced the original cabinets by these in the video. While they have turned rather ugly, the idea seems extremely good. If the external shape reflects the internal, then it removes parallel planes with standing waves internally and externally sources of diffraction distortion are reduced with the shape of the boxes. Probably the cabinet colouration at higher volumes is reduced significantly. I really like the idea of the coaxial drivers, but my Sonus Faber Extrema speakers are really great with the speakers next to each other. The idea to have two drivers in phase, this way only holds up to a point. The advantage is that the phase alignment is the same no matter where you are in space relative to the speakers. In general, frequency dependent phase-shifts happen along the audio chain to an extent dependent on the quality of the audio device chain and interfaces therein. My huge 2-way monitors address part of that by having no capacitors in the audio path of the crossover filter. In the case of the Tannoys, I would probably have moved the crossover electronics outside the speaker box - the originals had separate low and high connector terminals anyway (where each driver has its own filter). The soundstage came across well via my decent desktop speakers and I did not feel the need to put on the expensive Sennheiser over-ear things. With a few tracks. Most electronic recordings record each of the sources (voices, instruments) directly to a separate track and this gets turned into a fake soundstage in the master down-mix recording. Using volume clues and pan-potting. That means phase clues miss and always are incorrect. And other spatial clues like reflections and colourations from travel through space and reflections also miss. The recordings in the video don't seem "complex" in nature and musically simple recordings easily sound "euphonic" - which easily sells audio kit. While high-end sounds incredibly good with such music, low end also sounds very good with it. Watching contemporary TAS videos and seeing the music they list as demo, makes me think, if HP already passed on, he would be rolling around in his grave to the point you could hook his bones on to an electrical generator. HP could remark that he could hear the difference between 1st and 2nd violins. in the 50s/60s ballpark era, RCA recorded pure acoustic two or three microphones and issued these as "Living Stereo" series. I'll not comment on their musical-artistic value in the light of eternity. These have complexity and spatial clues. And exist in a digital rendition. As the master tape recording was probably the pieces of original recording tape or these might still exist, there will be more quality in there than on an old LP [1]. Bad examples with messed-up soundstage e.g. on Philips, Mahler in the Amsterdam concert house of the 70s. Multitrack many mikes mess that is totally fuzzy. Great music. Bad soundstage. [1] Recording these was a major operation. To get the balance right, they needed to rehearse for the recording. In music notation, volume directions are from pppp (pianissimo or softest) to ffff (fortissimo or loudest) and ppp, pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff, fff in between. As a single trombone at ffff does 140 dB (1m distance), recording a symphony orchestra to a 50 dB medium is a bit of a problem. So in rehearsal they trained to get the difference between the volume levels closer together. They also needed to get the balance between the instruments right. Brass in midrange and higher can easily cut through and sound like too much, but the lower end instruments less easily cut through. A rehearsal conductor rehearsed all this and then the famous maestro came in for a few recordings. The best performance/recording combination per part in the composition then got chosen for the cutting of the mother-record (a positive) that would be copied into negative records, which then got copied into a new positive from which the negative stampers would be copied. E.g. Stanton had a pick-up element to play the negatives that required a mirrored arm and counter rotating platter.

As a musician, I have yet to hear a speaker better than Tannoy. They pack punch, even at low volume.

HPM-100 are iconic speakers that some folks really love. I tried but could never get into their sound which to me was brash and unrefined that left me with listener fatigue after listening sessions. They do some things well like good definition and snap, solid bass, wide in range, good dispersion which makes them good party speakers but they have poor imaging, sound staging with no front to back depth. I always preferred the classic British designs.

The xo is bad in them. With a new cross-over and some light internal bracing and new damping materials, they will be a very good-sounding. The drivers are very high quality.
