Hejjj! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.

I am at this moment reading 'Lost At Sea' (1998) by Patrick Dillon when I saw the above video. The author Dillon puts into words what the video shows us. Fishing in the Bering Sea is not (and never has been) an easy task.

Statistics we called them in the coast guard. Filled too many body bags in the late seventies and early eighties. Tough way to make a living but dying ain't much of a living.

She was still on the power as you can see the prop wash in the back why not spin and head into the waves instead of taking broadside slams

Inexperienced “captain” . He was heading in the absolute worst direction possible . He should have been heading upswell , quartering it . The proper term for what happened is the vessel broached . Completely avoidable .

If they had put a sea anchor of the bow they could have saved the boat.

Keep in mind that video or films tend to "flatten" the waves, meaning that the sea was actually much angrier that it appears in the video.
