Had my 55 Tidal running for two years in my bedroom. Absolute dead quiet. Yes it does quieten down after a couple of weeks. 10/10 on that. It's says it's self cleaning that isnt true. You have to remove propeller and clean including the housing. Not shrimp safe or fry safe. I wish this had more attachments included to make this shrimp safe. You can wrap the lead around the unit to tidy it up. Don't pack media basket right out as the blue indicator keeps popping up. I only use sponge that I have cut and floss. Definitely worth the money but on a personal note i prefer sponge filters.

Hi, I'm looking for an advise. I'd like to buy an internal filter which would be really quiet (tank in the bedroom), for 125l. Important: I don't want shrimp and clown kilifish being sucked (I'm even considering installing some kind of net if necessary). Fluval u4 is one of the options but I'm considering also: Sicce Shark adv 800 (I read it can be noisy and magnets are crap)/ Eheim biopower/ Oase Bioplus Thermo 200 (I don't understand how water could go through all the media in this one and there's no regulation of direction of the flow). Heard that Tetra EasyCrystal FilterBox is very quiet but is seems like it's too big piece of plastic. I just can't decide which one to choose! Also I don't want a filter with exposed sponge as it gets so dirty during the maintenance. I'd be grateful for any opinion, thanks.

I had this u3 in my 125 and i couldn't hear it. Works great. Only downside is when you go to clean it whether its pulling out individual Chambers or the whole thing so much crap fulls back into the tank. It annoyed me so much I switched to a cannister filter.

well you could go external say fluval 207 but eheim pickup 200 or u3/u4 all filters may humm but you would get used to it fluval actually changed the blades slightly to lower the pitch stay away from sicce utter rubbish ok so stocking assuming shrimp and kilifish are all thats in there a u4 would defo be what i would use if cherry shrimp would put a filter bag on the bottom to stop baby shrimp

@@AQUAGUYUK Thank you! Good to know about Sicce as it's strongly advertised on YT by many channels... The filtration should be quite strong because besides those I posted before I'm going to have shoal of small fish like amber tetra, green neon tetra, rasbora espei so lot of fish... In u4 I worry about cleaning those cassets and releasing dirt back to the water, this is the reason why I don't want for example Aquael Turbo (big uncovered sponge). Why there's no one perfect filter 😅 After all Fluval seems like a good choice.
@baldu5672
@baldu5672 Ай бұрын

@@baldu5672 I really like the idea that you can clean one at a time so not to unbalance the tank with a bacterial bloom and they can be removed while still in the tank on a personal note the media portion on my ones needs cleaning once a month and i do a side every two weeks just because i have a secondary filter but as a stand alone i would wait till the flow drops before cleaning

I have the Fluval U2 and U3. They are decent filters with some minor issues. After about a month of initial use, the impeller and the cavity it sits in will need to be cleaned at least every couple of weeks, or the impeller will not start spinning on its own when you turn the filter off and back on. I think the impeller cavity is too narrow and gets packed with gunk too quickly. It can also be a pain to detach and attach the media housing to the frame and lock it in place. The U3 model specifically can be challenging to detach the media housing. I always have to fiddle around with it for a few minutes as it simply does not want to come out of the frame. I have to pull it up at a very precise angle for it to come out. Maybe it's just my unit, but I think there is improvement to be made to the way the housing detaches/attaches to the frame. Otherwise, these filters are pretty quiet and have decent amount of space for various filter media.

Pretty awesome guy and you’re right for the most part they all make some kind of noise. What are the things that we do is fill up a tile and put it on top and then put a brick on top of it or some sort of weight like that, this seems to cut down on the vibration tremendously. A very thorough and awesome review, sir. Thank you so much. It’s really neat that this has so many attachments and so many different things that I can do we used to run an air tube to a powerhead on an under gravel filter and get the same kind of air effect at this one seems to have which is kind of a neat idea, have something like that in a long time we’ve just been using the stacks the old-fashioned way the last few years but this is certainly a cool idea. Would probably be great for a beginner that doesn’t wanna spend a lot of money but still get something that’s gonna get the job done, being gentle on these types of cheap things will definitely help them last and that’s a great point….those dang suction cups seem to always be a problem don’t they even on some of the expensive ones….hope you’re having a great week!
