3:15 I have an Epiphone J45, made in china, and it has a normal dovetail joint.

I think epi's are generally pretty decent guitars, no matter where they are made. I have a LP studio made in Indonesia and it's a nice guitar and well put together and set up. All these chinese firms making guitars must be gaining quite some experience and knowledge as they go along. The next step for them is innovation, some new types of guitars and hardware

I prefer the second guitar.

As a guitar repairer and builder I think this repair suits these less expensive student guitars. It's common for these student guitars to be built very quickly with badly fitted neck joints. Even the glue that is used is substandard. So you have done an excellent job to keep a new player interested in learning guitar or a guitar to be kept at home for group singing.

Outstanding practical proof of how the soundboard design impacts the overall quality when all other components (back, sides) remains the same! Great work Mr. Kieulyakis! It takes a great amount of courage to open your work to public scrutiny and the unavoidable doom-sayers. The fact that you can do this is a measure of your professional integrity. Don't stop - keep up your work.

For a delicate operation on a rare vintage guitar repair, that’s right, use a machete type blade.😊
