Do the retail copies include tower variant B2? I know it was included in the crowd funded copies but I don't know if the retail copies come with it or not. It's just a piece of cardboard that you can swap in the tower that makes it retain more pieces.

We have the KS version. I am not sure if that was a KS exclusive or not. I will do some digging and see if I can find out.

It looks like retail does not include the tower piece. It was not included in the box, just packed into the shipping box.

I appreciate the info. I have the Essential Version which does include the tower piece but I'd rather have the Classic Version so my City Collection would be uniform but I guess at this time there's not a way to have the Classic Edition and tower variant B2.

Oh, I love these types of games! We have Reef and I wondered if it was too similar to this one. I'm still not really sure. I hope Santa brings you an overhead camera! Very much enjoying your play throughs.

Actually I was mixing up Reef with Aqua. I believe we reviewed Reef a long time ago. I can understand the concern over gameplay but I can definitely say Harmonies is way better than Reef.

Well for those who believe the bible. It’s fantastic having dinosaurs-you could probably credit that also to the flood story that many believe to be totally true-so to the realism of the actual story it makes sense.. So it was great to see them. We have yet to play our copy. Thanks for the review.

Just to let you know I bought this from an online store and it came with the metal victory tokens and silver coins. I believe its part of the 10th anniversary editons, not just the kickstarter

I agree with your assessment, although I would give the game an even higher score due to its “ low rules overhead / high strategy complexity.” I suspect that Windmill Valley will appear on many top ten games lists at year end. Also, I really appreciate your interspersing of still photos with the video because visualizing what you are talking about helps me better understand the points that you are making. Thanks for your usual thoughtful coverage of the game.

Sadly, no. We have just started venturing into playthrough videos. One challenge has been we only have one camera and not a great way to have an overhead mount. We are working through those issues and posted our first playthrough video. If there is a lot of demand we will look into venturing out to longer format games.

I caught that on the rewatch too. That actually makes me feel better that it won’t always be a 2 point game. It is hard to keep track of everyone’s scores, pieces, and focus on your own game. :)

Glad that you enjoyed it! One rule that I left out is that you can trade 2 cards of any color for 1 of another color (not wild). Not sure that it would have mattered, but it is an option.

I didn’t watch the full video but appreciate that this is a newer review (2+years) for an older game. So, I take that into perspective. I love train themed games but I think this one is too abstract theme wise and too dated for me.

Thanks for dropping in and commenting! We are playing through our entire collection of 3500 games with a goal of reviewing them all before I die. We have games that go back to the 1960's so we will be featuring many older games along the way. Obviously the new and upcoming releases draw more attention, but we will not ignore the classics. In fact, we have a playlist called "Randrac's Vintage Vault" that features only games from before the modern era (before Catan and the Euro invasion). I hope you come back to join us again!

I've played once, a five-player game, and agree with your assessment. I truly hope that Bedouin releases an updated rule book that clearly details how to play and answers the questions still pending a response on BGG. We "house-ruled" a bunch of stuff and still had questions at the end of the game.
