I'm ancient and a beginner. Fantastic learning tool in your hand and it's apps were not available 20 years ago. Huge amount of information currently available on KZbin and web, not in your local library then either. As a beginner I'm surprised the most significant feature of all brass instruments is the lips and knowledge and practice of the player, I shouldn't be surprised. At this time my personal approach will be using phone apps & web for; sight reading, rhythm training, ear (pitch intervals) training, playing at phone app tuner Carltune, music theory. I'll first work on scales of keyed brass (trumpet and similar) and then bugle calls, of which I find a great many, to establish overtone series of no keys pressed before learning any diatonic melodies. You bet I'll be buzzing away just the mouthpiece at tuner phone app. Look at Carltune among other phone apps to see why I prefer that one for my mouthpiece buzzing use. And yes, there is good & precious information about mouthpiece buzzing practice on KZbin and web, via expert of experts Google.
