Love this song. Even though it seems a simple song, when you pull it apart it’s really rather complicated.

A lot of people will say that A Day in the Life is their masterpiece. I’m not so sure. I think this song and its production and musicianship might be the Beatles ultimate masterpiece..

The Ringo drumming on this one is so good.

Ringo's #1 job was to complement the other three guys and he did that perfectly. He never thought of soloing or beating the crap out of his kit. His syncopation on "Rain" is amazing... and even Ringo himself cites it!

George Harrison really giving fuck all of a shit on this song lol entirely forgoing his usual invention for the sake of Paul’s ego *sigh* Paul’s drive to coin the coke polka genre like ugh I really do love observing these twinks 🥲

Holy smokes man, I never noticed that bass harmonic note that George played.

The organ on "I Want You (She’s So Heavy)" is widely believed to have been played by John Lennon himself, with some parts possibly doubled or influenced by George Martin
@harlemlive54432 ай бұрын
Some have commented that Billy Preston is playing organ here. I know he was involved in the Let it Be sessions but are folks sure that's him on Abbey Road? It was my understanding h e didn't partake in Abbey Road . Please clarify.

This is 100% Billy Preston. No knock on any Beatles piano/organ skills, but those runs are coming right out of church. Recommend becoming Preston’s material, especially That’s The Way God Planned It and Encouraging Words - both albums produced by Harrison.

I think these are legit original master tapes. Props to you man. Though I will say that George double tracked himself for the harmony. John didn’t sing on this at all. I’ve actually isolated the two harmony vocals apart and heard George singing both.

Lennon was particularly scathing about this song of McCartney's. It's a shame. It's given me pleasure every time I've heard it since 1967. It just ranges around the scale, making everyone feel good. Essential Beatles song.

What made Ringo great was that his drumming was almost similar to a fourth guitar in many of their songs.

Further evidence the above picture is from The Fool On The Hill session (as someone has said below) is the odd D variant chord the disembodied guitarist is playing, the first chord you hear in the song.

16:02 John deliberately was slightly flat on this section in order to help the blend sound richer. He's not the only artist that did that but it's such a great idea and very effective

What amazes me are the mistakes they let go, you don't Notices them in the final, and the timing issues... both Paul and George lose it often. And still it comes off as tight in the final

The outro solo definitely sounds like Harrison. It has all of those studder step finger slide moves, exactly like he utilizes in his solo on ’Octopuses Garden’. Beacuse of the tone he uses, i always thought it was John. Regardless, it’s all magical and every guitar part is perfect and incredibly thought out!
