Denver - best weather in the country. Too bad the food mostly sucks, and the residents are beyond boring. And downtown is a pit. Yawn.

You will need the standard timed entry permit for the park, but nothing extra once you're inside. 😊

@@caxibelle There's parking aaaalll over the place. If you're doing the Bear Lake corridor, just do park and ride. But pretty much anywhere else will have parking at every trail head.

@caxibelle I would personally do fall. It will be a bit cooler, and you'll skip the summer crowds. If you're lucky, you'll also get some stunning fall colors.

This worked out perfectly for us because of the bugs and sun here. No sunburns and they were breathable. But I also didn't have to recycle anything that smelled like sweat 😂

What airline did you fly? We are only taking light weight carry on luggage w/1 personal item (pak). Maybe we will have to check bag...IDK? How was customs? Anything taken or not allowed that surprised you? Going to Galapagos Islands only. Great video thank you for sharing! :)
@carriedawaytravels3 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching! We flew LATAM. It's a delta "sister" airline so we took advantage of the Delta perks with a free checked bag, but we also each had our personal items. Customs was not bad for us BUT we arrived in Quito around 10 pm. The customs agents were very friendly though and we didn't have any problems. We didn't run into any issues. Going into Galapagos, you'll have to have your baggage rescreened and disinfected and they'll make you fill out forms double checking you have no single use plastics, live seeds of animals, etc. Definitely be sure to have reusable and eco friendly stuff for the islands :)

Is it possible to walk the rim trails without taking all the stairs and descending into the gorge?
@carriedawaytravels7 ай бұрын
Yes! The trail is a big loop, so you can skip the stairs and gorge section, but you'd just have to back track along the ridge line when you reach the other end instead. :)

Thanks for your honest opinion of this exhibit. I was ready to drop $40 on this, but news of the Van Gogh traveling exhibit (not this one-but the original) filing for bankruptcy caught my eye. Upon further investigation I found there are a number of companies doing these Van Gogh “immersive” exhibits…who knew?-apparently piggybacking on the positive buzz of the more elaborate exhibits traveling the world. Having seen KZbin videos of the more elaborate exhibits, I was excited that it was coming to our area…but to a building in the county fairgrounds (?)…now I know why it is possible…it is just 2 rooms with screens on the walls, and not the multiple rooms of immersive projected paintings and physical vignettes of some of his most famous paintings. Even after doing more research, I found reviews by “influencers” (obviously given free tickets) and local TV stations that painted a rosy picture (pun intended) of this exhibit. Thanks for your honesty and giving me confidence that my $40 could be spent on better entertainment.

How safe did you feel walking around Quito.
@carriedawaytravels10 ай бұрын
Great question. During our first day, I was very nervous because I just didn't know what to expect. But we had 0 issues. At night, however, I never felt comfortable. Some of our group loved the nightlife, but I didn't like the quieter streets to get there or the big press of people near the clubs and discotechs. It felt like I was asking to be pickpocketed or jumped in an alley. All our guides warned us to never leave alone at night or take taxis. The historic district is one of the safest, so part of it is just being smart with where you go.

this place is a literal plantation.. and needs to be shut down
@carriechrstnsn Жыл бұрын
I understand the sentiment, but it's a teaching tool now, not a plantation. The goal of the plantation now (and the goal of many of the local places that were once built and managed unjustly) is to inform modern day people of the history, good and bad. A lot descendants of local slaves work at places like this in the area so that they have a voice and can share their stories. While it was a bad place they readily acknowledge that and are trying to use it for good. They even have presentations (we missed the showtimes) on slavery and all the wrongs of the place. It's a tool to show us how to be better to everyone in the future. If we take that away, we lose a reminder to not repeat history and a platform for those voices.
