Oh no, 😫 this makes me so incredibly sad. I worked at the Homestead in 2008, Woody was my maitre d. I worked as a Hostess, and he just had a piece of my heart…. Today 6 years after his passing I found out about his passing and my heart is aching. He made my days easier, made me laugh and shared stories. He taught me so very much. I am soooo sorry for his passing. We lost a good man. A great human being.

Wow...speechless. I used to work at the homestead a long time ago and even I remember Woody. A kind and gentle man with exquisite manners at all times. It was a pleasure knowing you Sir. May you rest in peace after a long life of service. As we say in the kitchen "86". You are fondly remembered.

Woody was the heart and soul of the Homestead. Many many people returned to the Homestead year after year in order to reconnect with Woody in the Dining Room. He was so kind and such a forceful presence in the Dining Room. His legacy will last into the ages.

One of the most historic properties in Virginia. My wife and I spent her 50th Birthday there. It was wonderful! I think 12 Presidents have stayed there. When we were there one of the guests asked why President Lincoln wasn't one of the guests. The tour guide replied: "Well in the early 1860's, President Lincoln wasn't really welcome in VirginIa!" LOL. Glad to hear they are restoring this grand old lady with an eye toward preserving history and originality.

August of 2019. This was put together by the Omni. Read the reviews from Trip Advisor and others. The place is falling down. Rooms are awfull with carpeting that's either stained OR a trip hazard. Best description....expensively dated and unbelievably needing a complete overhall from top to bottom. Services not available even though the claim they have them?? Oh well, maybe next time. Managers will not reduce your bill even if they don't deliver. Stay away...

Had the opportunity to stay here for two weeks while doing work at the Covington paper mill back in 2006 (?) We normally do not get to stay in such nice places, but because we were using the room for a month (me for two weeks, an associate for an additional two weeks), and it was the off season, so we got a special rate. It was so wonderful that I drove back to Charleston and brought my wife back with me for her to share the experience with me. I had to work all day down the road in Covington, while she enjoyed the views. The main hall is so immense, with several fireplaces. My wife discovered afternoon tea while reading a book here. She said she felt like a Duchess, having tea and biscuits in a palace. We walked the property a bit each night. They had skiing, skating, horse back riding, shooting, carriage rides. Several dining options are available at the resort, and there are a few other places to get a bite nearby. The spa is onsite where you can 'take the waters' from the Hot Spring. I believe the pool is also fed from the spring. They had bowling, and a sports bar. They have several award winning golf courses near the property also. Still the nicest place I have ever stayed. It looks even nicer now. I believe Omni has added a few more features since we were there.

PCShogun my daughter is moving here, to continue her 90 externship of becoming a nutritionist, so we get to stay there for 1 week, to check the place out before leaving her in another state :( your comment makes me feel better, knowing she will live in a good environment is somewhat easier to cope with her leaving the nest (lol) I’m kind of jealous she gets to work in such a beautiful environment, and have fun everyday after work! 😁
