This is a great flip side of the story! I went the the Listening Room 2 years ago and saw a great show that gave me some great motivation. Speaking it into existence that I will play there one day as a songwriter.

Makes me wonder if that family that sold him the house and land where he got the inspiration for "dirt cheap" even knows the story includes their old place.

@SBTSongs7 ай бұрын
Haha, that's his thing! He's been doing it for years with his original bands (Survivor and Ide's of March). He didn't just write most of their songs, he was in original band that still rocks out. :-)

Short answer, the older cats try too hard to hold on to relevance, they should just be who they are.

Never says sh!+ about that song, waist of time. By the way his voice sounds like he has been singing 60 years.
@listeningroomcafe7 ай бұрын
Ha!! He does tell the whole story about that song and how he wrote it. And his voice…he HAS been singing for 60 years and still performs with Ides of March in his late 70’s. You wanna make fun of him and say a waste of time? I hope I’m still rockin the way he is at that age! He’s a legend. Have a great day!

The best question to ask hit songwriters is" what is your highest earning song or what is the biggest song in your catalogue ?"
@SBTSongs7 ай бұрын
GREAT question Roland! I'll start to ask that one. That would be very interesting to see what we "think" that song would be compared to what it actually is...
