Not gonna last. Too many payoffs to corrupt officials and sub-standard building materials will lead to premature failure of such structures. Just like the thousands of empty apartment blocks, this too will unfortunately fail.

What stunning scenery 🥰 My Dad's first trip to China was as a hydroelectric engineer and the government were picking locations to build a dam to generate hydroelectricity. Unfortunately, he didn't get the contract but he loved the rural areas so much he would go often to vacation. My Mom never wanted to go with him which I never understood.

Four key steps for party commissars of the poorest provinces in China: (1) by building the most expensive roads and bridges, far exceeding Beijing's GDP quota, hence winning promotions to richer provinces; (2) by "collaborating" with local state-owned banks, boosting their loans therefore helping the bank officials look good; (3) by taking 30-40% kick-backs from construction firms; and (4) using the consturctions as "collaterals" to loans which never pays back resulting in astronomical deficits in financial institutions. Everybody is happy with the process, leaving sub-standard infrastrucures in construction and banking to rot.

With my balance problems, I'd never make it even halfway though I'd love to walk up this staircase. I'll be finding out next week if I've enough money in my RRSP that will pay for me to visit China. It's been a dream of mine for 44 years 🫶🏼

I advise you not to imagine anything because all imaginations are unrealistic. If you have enough knowledge, you will understand that China currently has the second-largest economy in the world. Visit Shanghai at least once to determine whether this country is truly developed and stop imagining everything. Adults rely on actual data; only children like to imagine things.
