Jimmy Chamberlain is my favorite drummer. He's a "rock drummer," but he plays more like a jazz drummer. There's such elegance to everything he does.

To me the music itself is like poetry that matches the lyrics perfect. The gritty 70's main rif that lays down the pattern that people can easily follow to make music and get famous. The pop fun chorus is mocking the sweet poppy nature that provides a cover for the more sinister motives of the industry and the emotional plee to "let me out" comes with harsh and pressing chops, denoting the turmoil of realizing that you must now struggle to get out of the comfortable position you have been accepting... Just a random thought.

@CatFishBirdDog3 жыл бұрын
Well, that is probably not her playing on the recording. It is most likely Billy Corgan. Even if she was playing it, he probably wrote the bassline. So I don’t really agree with the idea that she is eye candy because this is a simple bass line. It is a simple bass line written by an incredible guitar player and great songwriter. It is a bass line that serves the song.

I'm an accomplished bass player of over 30 years..this is a great bassline. It's what works for the song. That is not downplaying the work. It does the job. And drives the song and pushes the guitars to achieve desired classic effect after 30 years. Check yourself. Lol

Siamese Dream guitar production killed the cymbals and the bass line. But if you pay attention, you will notice them. Just focus on it. It's pretty weird when you can hear them behind all that fuzzy guitars. Magical, i would say. It blow your mind.

I don't think this is the real, actual drum track. The snare roll at the beginning sounds like it could be from the actual track, but the rest of the song, the drums have a totally different tone, so it's either not actually Jimmy, or if it is, it's not the final mixdown of the drum track.

According to Butch Vig they mixed in a trigger to beef up the snare hits, so this must be the dry track.

@kalbi11 ай бұрын
When instruments are isolated like this, it will sound different from the final mix/master because it's isolated. For example, you won't fully hear the articulation of the bass because the guitars are so massive in the final mix. Some EQ, effects, and compression might be missing here but it sounds like the actual track. Jimmy had such a distinct groove and you can recognize it when you hear it.

DTay45 Musicians have relative pitch from playing E so often on bass and guitar. Someone like myself has heard an E so often that it's like seeing the color red and knowing it's red. Also, the song is in E, and Billy is mostly just playing root notes on bass since he's not really a "real" bassist.
