all that just to be looking at a monitor through track IR. Looking AT a cockpit/the world versus being IN the world. Get a proper VR setup with MR and integrate it with your cockpit so you can actually be IN the world :)

@@BFMwithStackhouse I entered the VR world 10 years ago with the Rift DK2. Four VR headsets later, I've arrived at the Quest 3. I’ve also tried mixed reality, but I didn’t like it at all. You don't need to care

@Kristopherus666 did you try the Q3 with virtual desktop and something like the hand passthrough or cockpit passthrough?

@@BFMwithStackhouse Yes, I use Virtual Desktop, and yes, I’ve also tested hand tracking. In the rare cases where I use VR, I don’t rely on it either. By the way, my cockpit is very modular, which is why mixed reality only makes limited sense for me. I consciously chose this type of setup because it suits me best. Here are a few pictures so you can imagine it: imgur.com/a/s1qIgJN

how do you manage to fly a combat sim without view panning? How do you check your six for example

I use TrackIR with a generous dead zone in the center, which keeps the image stable and centered during small head movements. seen here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZilnKumiqeKbac and here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZilnKumiqeKbac

Although I'm hardcore VR (Aero) for several years, I must say, this looks impressive! I use a combination of hardware (Winwing, PointCntrl, etc), so my next thing will be a mixed reality HMD at some point. Nice job! 👍🏾

I also fly in VR from time to time (Quest 3), but I prefer using the monitor. By the way, it's an extremely curved Odyssey Ark 55. Thanks to custom viewpoints for each aircraft and a 90° field of view, there's a wonderful transition between the virtual cockpit displayed on the screen and the physical cockpit.

@@Kristopherus666 That's great. Whatever works best for you, is all that matters. For me, as a real world pilot, once I experienced VR (and got my VR legs after getting sick, lol), there was simply no going back LOL. I have the curved monitor as well, it's great.

While I am not doing this jet, I wanted to see if I could make this with using a all hex led displays. So thats about 120 led hex displays (or 30 4x displays) about about 6 TM1680 drivers so you can drive the whole thing with i2c. Nice thing is they can also drive the buttons on the panel all with 2 wires. Price wise your looking at about 100$ a panel. But then I saw you can get the TFT for only 100 bucks so..bleh:P TFT wins again.

Do you just use a white filament for the backlit buttons, or is there a specific filament that’s better for backlit buttons?
