I’m simply amazed, I got my trans pulled out thanks to your other video, I thought that not going back in as easy as it came out, watch this video and you reinstalled one in half the time you took one out 😂, amazing videos keep it up, you definitely don’t need to make these I’m sure all these junky Chevrolet transmissions keep you busy. I need to stick to a body work

Incredible pulling the tranny in under 30 minutes...tackling this job tomorrow bright and early and aiming for start to removal by noon. Excellent information, thanks!!

what glue does one use for assembly of the connectors?

I’m not sure what it is. It sucks. It comes from the factory that way. But a little heat and it will come out with a little wiggling. Just might have to heat both ends back up when going back together.

@@ltstransmissionhowto5158 do you typically replace the glue? Why did GM do that. Isn't that what clips are for? I'm gearing up to replace the rear main and oil pan gasket in my driveway. 2003 z71. Mechanical transfer case. I'm trying figure out the gasket order. Pan first or rear main seal/plate first? Also I believe the 4L60e is fine. 167k miles. Should I consider an input lip seal? Pump seal? I don't know yet if it's leaking.

How do those hoses connect? Changed transmission and seems to be leaking from the transmission vent hose,

Shouldn’t be leaking From the vent hose unless it’s way over full or building up pressure.

You are more of a mechanic that most out there, you know what you are doing. I did not get so lucky on my starter removal, the side bolt snapped off leaving me no ability to get it out, Laying on my back in cramped space attempting to weld a nut on it failed. I have been looking at what all was involved and it looks pretty straight forward except for the bloody lift. I am looking at changing out the flexshaft due to starter issue, I am on my third starter and I have to rotate the crankshaft every few starter attempts........

Not looking forward to this job! Our POS 2006 F150 has a bad flex plate, the gear is worn off from a bad starter that wasn't fully engaging for a year. Apparently they make the starter gear out of harder metal than the flex plate gear for some dumb reason (Ford). ;)

Very good video breakdown. Few minor points worth adding for a DIYer. -there are a couple connections plugged into the transfer case. -on the cross member I think it’s better to attack the 4 horizontal bolts first bc if there is any type of rust in there it makes getting them out easier. -on the transmission lines….over time the quick connectors corrode which makes removing the clips near impossible…..instead there are couplers for those lines under the hood adjacent to the air box assy which are much easier to access there. -for the torque converter bolts use either a swivel or universal for a regular ratchet or use a low profile ratchet…..problem being there isn’t quite enough clearance for normal ratchets so as you turn the ratchet it causes a slight misalignment which can result in damaging the head of the torque converter bolt…..doing so repeatedly will likely round off the head…..if you do not have a swivel or low profile ratchet then just break the bolts loose with a ratchet then turn back them off the rest of the way with an open ended wrench.

This video was extremely helpful, no issues till I got to the torque converter bolts. Wound up stripping the last nut... Doh. Had to use the air hammer to reverse stripped nut. Reinstalling I found my 8" crescent Pass-Thru set worked perfect for torquing flex-plate nuts. The ratcheting wrench and 14mm just barely fit in the inspection space.

I am signing up to be part of a GM Law suit over their Transmissions. My 2019 has had the 3X Flush Two weeks ago and is now back getting a new torque converter. Chevrolet/GM is aware of the problems, but keeps pushing these Transmissions out. Mary Bara needs her Corporate Million Dollar Bonus each year.

How did you get the dipstick tube out of the trans? My 04 f150 4x4 had a weird tube connected to the top passenger side bell housing bolt, but the dipstick is much larger in diameter that the weird metal tube that came out when i removed that bolt. Im about to finish taking out the rest of the bolts in the bell housing and am doing this off jack stands and ramps. Not enough clearance to drop the trans and the whole dipstick tube.

It will slide out. You will probably have to rock the transmission around a little and it should break free and slide out of the transmission
