Nice video. Where is that "walking to Portomarin" song from. I love it and want to use it when I walk in 2026. I tried googling it, but had no luck.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually generated it through AI using an app called Suno. I wrote the lyrics to it and it generated the song. If you want, send me your email and I'll send you a copy of the song.

25 kms is over 15 miles! Wow! That is a lot walking on hard concrete. My knees would be gone. Beautiful hike and great vid!

The only thing that really saved us in this one was that the terrain wasn't too bad. We had maybe 1 or 2 uphills that you'd even get your heartrate going. Most of it was on normal hiking dirt, but the last 3 miles was on the side of the road. Still dirt, but we were completely exposed to the sun. If I recall, we took 2 different one-hour breaks in this, plus the monastery tour was a full hour, so the whole thing could be done in quite a bit shorter time. We just spread it out because the heat was really bad.

Thanks for the feedback. Where we were sitting, the winds were actually pretty strong and it drowned out the cars noise. I tried to clean it up, but it didn't sound right. Next time I go, I'll use a better microphone.

Do we need to purchase any tickets to enter those lakes? Thanks.

Yes. You need to get a reservation from the Brainard Lake Recreation Area in order to be allowed in. However, if you don't mind walking an additional 3 miles or so, I believe you can park in a lot outside of the entrance. The reservation fee is $14 for a car and $2 for a general reservation fee. On top of that, you might struggle to get into the Long Lake parking area unless you reserve well in advance because the parking spots are limited and this is a very popular destination. One piece of bad news is that I have a friend who was out there a week ago and said that they are actually already in the process of draining Lake Isabelle for the winter. Timed entry tickets can be found here: www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10087515 I am actually planning to go back on 9/16 to do the Mitchell Lake trail up to Blue Lake. Mitchell Lake is a slightly easier reservation to get than the Long Lake Parking, I believe.

An excellent combination of a video series, audio track, and the enchanting voice of the presenter. Of course, you need to continue this work, it’s clear that the author is talented, and he’s succeeding.

Cool vid! I like that presentation. Especially the far away shots that showed the whole sky go dark. Very nice!

Thanks! We had such a good time. When I told Ceci that I was just going to leave my GoPros in different places, she was like -- you do know you are going to lose them, right? But I trust my Indiana people! In actuality, I hid them really really well -- she couldn't even find it when I told her where they were. :)

What did you do on the coldest day of the year? Visited a place called the "Ice Box". Lol! I like the credits at the beginning. Nice touch. That ladder section with the icicles was really cool. Then crash at the end! Glad you didnt hurt yourself. That place is insane though. Reminds me of some crazy place you would find in Utah.

I'll be honest -- there were 2 spots where I had to do a rear-end slide down about 2-3 feet because there was no way I was walking on a 45 degree slope with how slick that ice was. Then, the one time I run into someone, I go splat after barely putting a foot down on the ice. I should have given credit to Nike for the jacket, gloves and stuff that kept me warm throughout. When I got back to the car, I realized half my pants legs were completely frozen, but I strangely never really felt seriously cold until the very end when the sun went down.

Enjoyed the video! ... Halfway through my 2021 Camino Frances I hurt one of my feet. I bravely/stupidly slogged on for many days.. But after the climb to O Cebreiro I knew that my hiking days were over. So I walked down from O Cebreiro to Piedrafita and then caught the bus to SdeC. ... Enjoyed the ride! ... Appreciated your shots of that 4-km walk to Piedrafita 'cause ya don't usually see them in Camino videoblogs.

Thanks for the comments! I wonder if you had the same looks on the faces that I got walking down that hill. Like everyone was thinking -- why are you going to wrong direction? Amazing part of the world and the people are just so cool. Never had so much bread in my life. :)

That looks like a great place to visit. And never underestimate the lifestraw! Those things really do work.
@markstumpf6531
@markstumpf6531 10 ай бұрын
Hey Nick - actually ocean water is one of the few things the Lifestraw cannot filter. So, if you ever find yourself on a rocky coast looking at stringy water that had probably been used liberally by pigeons, do not use the Lifestraw on it. In this case, the better option was probably the water fountain at the church. :)

You and I both know how bad the GoPro can be in low light. Maybe the gopro should come with a torch accessory.
