I had the opportunity to visit the Museum a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I was not aware of it...what a surprise to see the history that was on display. I really enjoyed the display on the third floor as the 1961 Elnora Basketball team picture was on display, I was part of that team. Great job to all associated with the museum. There’s a book out now, Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan, that tells the story of DC Stephenson and the Klan in Indiana. Through most of the 1920s the KKK owned Indiana. The state government was a majority Klan, the governor was Klan and many of the federal reps were Klan. Indiana was the hot bed for the KKK. DC Stephenson said he was the law! Most law enforcement were also Klan members. This book was fascinating. I just finished it.
