He's right about the borders, that would've made quite a big difference. I started with a Scaley set, with magnets of course. At some point, I raced on a routed wood track, no magnets, and found the experience much more enjoyable. I now have my own routed track (second one), around 63' lap. 7 seconds is considered a good lap. In this situation, there are two really important bits to remember. One is you're going to need to change the rear tires. I run exclusively urethane. Two, and more important, is an adjustable power supply. I run 10V, sometimes a bit more. For younger drivers, I turn the power down so they're not constantly falling off. As for having to re-slot the car constantly, that's what practice is for. I can do 50 laps without coming off.

Mine doesn't work like the instructions.. To set to under 100 laps (1) Press and hold C or E until it reads 000. Then let go quick.. (2) Press and hold until it reads the setting you want.. Let go quick....

It looks like a 12x4 but I thought I'd ask. That is a beautiful layout you have. I wish you had made the video a little longer. I bet those cars look nice going around that track.
